Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail

Considering the issues they have with the CVT box, you would think they drop the CVT, not the manual, or at least replace the CVT with the conventional 6 gear auto box.

It doesn't make sense to drop the manual at all.

Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail

Hi Guys,

I started commenting on the myNissan website about the Series 3 X-Trail and the lack of the hyper roof rails on it which I would have liked to see (along with many other owners I guess) and Nissan Australia are now doing a survey asking who else wants to see the hyper roof rails on the T31 emoticon

It is at times like this I wish you all had access to the myNissan site, so you can cast your vote in, but am gonna set-up a poll on our forum for this and will give the results of it to Nissan Australia on your behalf emoticon

They might listen to us after all emoticon

I got this answer from Nissan on the myNissan website regarding the question I asked about their decision to drop the manual from the ST-L and Ti versions.

quote:

Hi Jalal,

Historically, the sales of manual transmission on the mid and high grade compact SUVs have been very low. With this in mind, we made the decision to not introduce manual variants on the petrol ST-L and Ti models for X-TRAIL Series 3.
This is not uncommon, with neither Honda CRV or Mitsubishi Outlander currently offering manual versions on their mid and high grades either – probably representative of people’s demand for the manual transmission on such grades.
We will continue to monitor the market demand closely..

In regards to CVT, it has been very well received by our customers for the smooth performance and exceptional fuel economy – there’s been further fuel efficiency improvements on Series 3 CVT models.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

That is until the noises start coming through it and their smile turns to a murderous intention. emoticon

Yeah, they still refuse to admit the CVT problem though.

Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail

As a CVT owner it is honestly the best automatic gearbox I have used, especially as I use the Manual side more than the auto side because then the motor is reving through the gears (and using the exhaust more) rather than the car accellerating through the gearbox at one rev (the way my wife drives).

The only thing is you always have the lingering feeling that one day you will start hearing noises (sometimes on smooth roads having a close listen as you drive) and then have to put up with a nightmare for a few weeks.

We can only hope that there was a faulty part in a batch of gearboxes which have all surfaced and been sorted or if anyone loses a box next year goes hard at Nissan until they get it replaced for free.

Hopefully you won't hear any noises but if you do pray it's before the warranty runs out.

Nissan have had their share of problems with the CVT in the Murano in the USA and I believe they began offering an extended ( ten years I think ) warranty on the CVT to allay peoples fears.

That's correct Glenn and it was a result of a class action against Nissan US from many CVT owners.
