*Possible Recall* T31 Hazards not working on a Trailer*
Hi Guys,
As some of you may have already discovered, the hazard lights do not work on a trailer connected to the T31 X-Trail when the ignition is off.
This problem has indeed been acknowledged by Nissan in the UK and an official recall has been announced to fix this problem by adding a sub-harness.
Details of this recall can be found HERE
Not sure how long it will take Nissan Australia to register this problem, but you have to mention it to your dealer to make them aware of the risks involved.

Re: *Possible Recall* T31 Hazards not working on a Trailer*
I spoke to Nissan several times regarding this.
All they tell me is that is a safety issue so that a trailer can't short out the Xy, whatever.
They told me to see an auto electrician.
Today I did this mod myself and simply by passed the module that controls it.
Check it out in the DIY section.

Well, it's a safety issue is you parked on the side of the road due to an emergency with the trailer and can't use the hazards!
Sure, you could have told them, I will see an electrician and send you the bill

I told them that too, almost word for word as you wrote.
They said that Nissan would not pay the bill.
Go figure.
I got away with it for nearly 2 years now and I don't want to push my luck any further.
I had to do it ASAP or the consequenses could mean a written off Xy and trailer, and that adds up to no work.

They're playing with fire and will probably wake-up when someone takes them to court one day as a result of a major accident.

Yes Peter, this fault doesn't happen only when the ignition is off and/or the key is out.
