Wheel nut discrepency.

I bought my 2007 ST-S just a month ago, 45,000 km and like new in every respect. Being the cautious person that am - sometimes, - I decided to check if I could remove the wheel nuts with the equipment provided ( what ever happened to decent supplied tool kits ? ). No chance. The tool provided ( incorporated in the jack handle ), has a 21 mm socket on the end. The wheel nuts on my car require a 19 mm socket. The previous ( original owner ), has assured me that everything is original. The wheels certainly are standard X-Trail alloy wheels. Any one struck this before ? I now carry a 19 mm socket and bar.

should be 21mm from nissan, must have had aftermarket wheels at some stage. you can buy 21-19mm reducers so you can still use your factory tools

OK, thanks for that. I actually have a 19 mm wheel brace, so will just carry that. I am glad that I discovered this at home !

Re: Wheel nut discrepency.

I had the same thing on my old car. Other thought is that the tire places sometimes overtighten the nuts with the rattle guns. Next time you remove the nuts it sheers the stud. They will just use whatever studs-nuts are on hand to fix so you do end up with a mix, as you say, not ideal if you have to change a flat somewhere with factory brace only...good pickup

I always carry a star wheel brace anyway as undoing the wheel nuts with their angled handle is always a pain when some tyre place has done them up too tight with a rattle gun emoticon

Re:

A length of pipe to fit over the angled brace helps heaps when undoing tight wheel nuts.
