Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 CVT Petrol)

Thank you guys for taking the time to reply.

It's good news to know that the new muffler and the JTG conversion will work fine together.

Would the muffler still deliver the same amounds of power while working on LPG?
Has anyone tried something similar?

Cheers,

Athan

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 CVT Petrol)

Yesterday I took delivery of the exhuast from Lachlan's car and installed them that night.

I used a gasket supplied by my local spares which is 6 cyl holden shape and a perfect straight fit. Installation took about an hour and a half but a second person and the cut out template for the rear bumper would reduce that.

First impressions are it definatly improves accelleration, it sounds deeper, and they look a treat.

I will update in about a week of usual driving. The old exhaust fuel consumption was 9l/100k, I always fill at the same servo with premium.

I havent had a chance yet, the night shots didnt work. I took it down the road this arvo and the x-trail definately is more responsive and free reving.

Dont worry about the template, Im a dab hand at cutting circles with my grinder although I need to adjust the cut a little to keep the gap even.

Looks good Matt, but you need to make the cut in the bumper a bit larger so as not to touch the exhaust tip.

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 CVT Petrol)

After the first half a tank or so of fuel the dash is showing 9.3l/100km at 44 km per hour average, which is only slightly higher than before. Our car does about a 50/50 ratio of around town/80km+ driving. The power difference is very evident, even better on the manual side of the CVT as in auto it revs up to a point then accellerates through the gearbox but manual revs out more through the motor as you go up the gears.

The sound made by this exhaust is noticable but not obtrusive, it is a nice deep tone on idle/low revs and is a low roar on accelleration. My wife uses this car as a daily driver and when driven by her it is quiet enough that only a trained ear will pick it (unless she is putting the boot in emoticon ).

How could you make the single pipe a little sweeter with sound Jalal!

Heard the twins and would like a little deeper note!

That's easy Scot, grab a screwdriver and put a hole in it, that'll make it sound "deeper" for you LOL emoticon

Seriously mate, the system can not be made any louder to comply with EPA standards.
