Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi,

I am also looking into upgrading my existing head unit with rear camera at the same time. For the price with GPS and all the other usual compatible luxuries of today that Eonon one sounds pretty good.

Any reviews for recent models and which supplier would be best to purchase from. I have a mate who's pretty handy at DIY installs so I trust him to do it locally for me. Is it an easy install?

Lastly, I would assume that it would have rear ports to connect to external speakers including a sub. Can anyone confirm this? Furthermore, the rear facing camera would be included in the price right?

Thanks all,
Ben

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi Ben,

I have started a project on this and a separate thread for the Eonon (not sure if that is the right thing to do or not). Have a look at this web page T 31 Eonon Unit. Down the bottom it shows the wiring inputs and from what I can see it is s direct plugin (even the special antenna port).
It does not come with a camera but if you look at Camera options, think you have to select PAL (not sure yet).

I am planning on ordering mine today and will detail project in this thread Eonon install T 31

Hope it helps!
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

I read your thread last night (when it was "new sound for my ride")and looked at both of those head unit options too.

I like the one with the dials for volume control and I would consider getting a camera as separate. Do you know if anyone has provided you with any feedback on these models?

Cheers for the input on this brand.
Ben

Gday Ben,

No feed back from this forum as yet. Plenty on the web - just did a search on the model number and found many similar (similar model numbers suit different cars) they all look fairly good. Some of the older stuff was a little rough but they seemed to have ironed things out.

I also like the one with the Volume controls. Plan to order today!

Re:

Hi guys,

I am planning to replace my factory Audio system with DVD/SatNav head unit with all multimedia applications.
Had a look at a couple of models but to be honest not sure what is the best one...
I would expect the following features for the Head unit:
DVD, SatNav, Rear Camera connectivity, 3G /GPS, touch screen etc...

Appreciate if you share your recommendations.
Thanks

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

(added 30-9-2014) WARNING: The following could easily be a scam - or good sites taken over by scammers

Go to eBay and search for the following:

7" Car CD DVD MP3 Player GPS In Dash Double Din Head
or
Double DIN Android 4.0 Car Dash DVD Player GPS

When items appear click on "Advanced" search (top right)

Limit your dollars to $50

The are lots of these units selling for $19.99!!!

I bought this one (model NS05GPS) which includes Australian maps etc:

Which can also be found here:
http://www.tunezmart.com/shop/products/108-Double-DIN-DVD-GPS-Receivers/8-7-Double-DIN-car-DVD-player-with-GPS/
for $410 !!!

(edited) As mine hasn't arrived yet - This could be a scam so proceed forewarned. I'll post updates as the sale proceeds. Currently marked as posted.

Admin Edit: eBay link removed as per forum rules. Use the eBay item number as a reference if you want to link to eBay. Thanks

Has yours actually arrived as yet?

Reason I ask, is that I bought one myself for $39.95, and it ended up being a scam. Seller had no negative feedback, although feedback score was low, in the 30's or so.

Received a tracking number, was fake, seller ended up disappearing and item was removed by ebay "We had to remove this listing from the site and you're not required to complete the transaction. If you've already sent payment, the sale should process as normal and you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any questions about delivery, please check tracking or contact your seller. If you run into any trouble along the way eBay is here to help. Please visit the Resolution Centre to help resolve any problems you may encounter"

Got a refund through paypal fortunately.

I have NEVER, seen a double DIN, LEGITIMATE item sell NEW on ebay for any less than around $190 or so.

Proceed with caution, and be carefull advising members to do the same where they may loose their cash ($50 might not be much for you and me, others it might)

Hi Ti81

Point Taken and I wondered about that.

I rationalised it as clearance stock or something.

I'll certainly keep this post updated about any events including delivery or otherwise.

Fingers crossed.
