Re: Re:

Tony that is a good question! All I know the type is called the Nispro which I purchased from a australian seller on eBay called isuperstore.

Quite possibly built to spec and even the box and instruction manual has no name, on the listing it showed Samsung parts and a few other well known names. I was playing around with it last night and it will take sometime to get used too!

Easy connectivity to the iPhone, but have not worked out how to show my contacts yet! Bonus was it came with an external mic another item to install! If the rain keeps up and the kids sleep for a few hours I will tackle some of the easier jobs like the 2 rear USB cables, mount the mic, GPS receiver and the DTV antennas. Rear camera i will need to off load the kids for a day! Lots more pics to come!

Re: Re:

Ok just about done! Will add a pic later of the camera install location and I did not take anywhere installing as there is already enough floating around already!

Wired the camera into the rear power socket as my stereo has an option to operate at anytime emoticon but I did tap into the reverse light feed for the signal wire to the stereo, so when the wife selects reverse it comes on, took the feed from behind the passenger side floor panel. While in this area I found a power source for the tv antennas and the rear seat LCD panels.

So far so good but now the hard part..... teaching the wife how to use it! I'm thinking the basic radio on.... GPS on.... Forget the multi zone and picture in picture feature!

Also found out that with a USB modem I can access the Internet! Will have to get a photo scrolling through the forum on the stereo!

If anyone needs any tips or has any questions please pm me and I will be glad to help.

Edit: photo added of camera location just above and to the left of the number plate, it really does work well and I am able to adjust it slightly.

Re:

Ok after stereo install which I finished late Saturday night I think I drained the battery. Sunday morning check stereo worked but only noticed the power drain when the radio station started to drop in reception.

Tried to start the car and click click click! Bugger! After jump starting and driving around for a few hours I assumed all was well! Wife jumps in the car to go to work click click click!! As the exy is almost 5 years I thought the battery (with my doing!) died!

Purchased a new century 68 installed this evening and started straight away! Here lies the problem, after a short drive and checking voltages 14.2v (while driving) I checked after the car was turned of and I noticed the charge in the battery was dropping??? So from 14.2v a few hours ago it is now sitting at 12.8v. I am not sure if this is normal and worried about the wife trying to start the car in the morning!

When I installed the stereo which just plugged and played, rear camera wired to rear power socket, I'm thinking a power drain somehow? Anyone noticed this or or have any thoughts?

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Yeah well I'm an idiot! Read through to many posts and thought the battery sat higher than 12.6-8v on rest! We do run a 12v system not 13 or 14!!!

Battery fine this morning sitting on 12.7v and 72amp's! Reaffirms that the original battery did in fact die!

Re:

Has anyone considered a Parrot Asteroid Smart head unit?

RRP in Aus is about $999 but the units can be bought from Amazon.com for under $500 shipped to Australia. The Parrot appears to be a top quality piece of kit - they have made the best after market hands free units for some time now.

 http://www.amazon.com/Parrot-Navigation-Multimedia-Hands-Free-Bluetooth/dp/B00A6UTZ32/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1368344192&sr=8-2&keywords=parrot+unika

This unit comes with US iGO maps and it doesn't look like a simple task to get a Aussie SD card with maps, but possible i'm sure, however if you check the XDA forum link below you will see that it is possible to Jailbreak the unit so that any android navigation apps can be loaded including Tomtom which (IMHO) is far superior to iGO

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi Guys,

We just bought a 2013 Xtrail T31 ST 4WD Series V, stilling awaiting delivery. I would like to install a reverse camera. With the factory unit i wont be able to do it hence, i was thinking of changing the head unit also. I am looking at Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS/DAB unit.

I have been reading this forum for while, where fellow forum members have done similar installation. Lot of the information refers to previous models. I am trying to find information on current model.

Image

As pioneer installation guide, it has following input connection.
1)Main connector is ISO type.
2)Hardwired remote for steering wheel control.
3)Handbrake sw.
4)Reverse position.

Where can i buy ISO harness, steering wheel control adapter for 2013 Xtrail ST Series V.

How do I access handbrake sw and reverse position (voltage change when in reverse).

Can some one please share there views/experience on this.

Cheers

Re:

Does any one have wiring diagram for Nissan Stereo. I searched on Aepro website but it has got connectors for models up 2009 only. I pulled out the stereo unit to see the connections.

Nissan stereo has got four connectors at the back.

Re:

What sort of head unit is this? What year model? Do you have a photo of the front of the unit?

Please update your signature to include the year model of your Exy. Makes things easier to answer.
