Re: Koason

Has anyone noticed that the Koason unit attracts a whole lot of power line noise on AM stations when travelling underneath them?

I don't think there's a radio on the market that won't noise up on AM when going under power lines

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Including the standard X Trail radio, what I have noticed recently is the range of the AM stations has been cut back, used to lose the FM stations before the AM ones when driving out of Adelaide metro.

Re: Re:

As Rescue1 implies, HV Powerlines destroy AM radio reception.

No workaround.

Interference inevitably happens as the powerline RFI swamps your reception.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

So I had my head unit professionally installed last week along with a reversing camera. The unit is incredible but unfortunately has one major flaw. The ipod, cd/dvd, radio, reverse camera, bluetooth music, and nav work seemlessly. We gave it a real good trial on a big 2 day roadtrip over the weekend, however the bluetooth phone calls are extremely muffled going out and also the audio coming in. Because the bluetooth music is clear it makes me think that it is a software problem? I've emailed Koason but am yet to hear from them, hopefully they can get back to me soon with some answers.

All the SWCs work except for the answer and decline buttons. The source and hang up rules are on the same button on my xtrail and the unit doesn't allow you to assign 2 rules to the same button. The unit can't pick up the answer button at all for some reason. Again I've emailed Koason about this so hopefully they'll get back to me soon.

Overall I love the unit, and if these problems can be fixed it'd be the perfect substitute. Despite the problems I'm still quite pleased with the performance from this puppy

How much did the installation cost? Not as flexible as I used to be.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Just in case there is not not enought instructions on this already!!!

I installed the new kitchen sink this evening. I have gone with a different unit to the rest but still has GPS, DVD, DTV, USB x 3!! Multi zone, picture in picture and so on.

Image

Ok started by pulling the centre dash off, pull from the bottom and don't be scared!

Image

Need to disconnect the hazard wires.

Image

Remove the 6 holding screws holding the stereo frame in.

8 security screws hold the original stereo in place, I was able to reuse these screws for the new unit. As it was a quick test I still need to run the GPS antenna, USB x 2 cables, rear view camera, iPod/ iPhone connection, rear head rest av cables. So I have a few more write ups to go! Final install pic with the nissan logo with startup!

Image

I chose this unit for the functionality but also as it is the unit that looks almost stock!
