The kitchen sink GPS unit started playing up a year or so ago. The screen would not illuminate with graphics on headunit mode (GPS was fine), the screen would just fade slowly to grey over a few seconds. oddly my friend bought the same unit and his is still going good. I ended up fitting the sony axv100 unit with apple carplay and android auto, it was on sale for just over $300, works great! I also replaced the rear camera as the first one stopped working too. I found another one that replaces the license plate light so it looks factory. As in the around view camera, etc? If anyone has an answer for that one, I'm all ears. I'll be pinging the local dealer about it as well next time ours goes in. I kind of expect that the gizmos are small metal boxes/modules tucked in behind the head unit and simply tell whatever is in front of them what to show/do. Hoping that's the case, but not expecting. Not that the current one is at all terrible, it's actually very good and as up to date as we require it to be but in about a year I expect it to struggle with the navigation part as it'll be about 10,000km away from where it's meant to be. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Cugologist)Thu, 24 May 2018 21:27:20 +0000 Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095643,from=rss#post2095643https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095643,from=rss#post2095643The below units are the two main types now available. Must admit I have only had two in 12 months, and the only reason I bought the new unit was to have output to an amp and DAB+ radio. Both units came from different suppliers and had no issues at all. The only gripe i have with them is the reflection on the screen. This was sorted by an anti glare screen cover which was cheap on ebay and just cut to size with a guillotine. cheers, Tomnondisclosed_email@example.com (Tomkazz)Sun, 06 May 2018 21:06:37 +0000 Re: Head unit bought from overseashttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095634,from=rss#post2095634https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095634,from=rss#post2095634Can anyone comment on how these head units bought from overseas like the ones you order online would cope with the extreme heat in the car in Australia. As with all tech there are now newer and faster units available. I'm curious to know if anyone would be interested in these as well? The reason being is better buy power! These units are direct plug and play and no special or previous knowledge of car electrical is required. Once i know the number of people interested I'll get more info. It is swc compatable with Japanese cars. However I have 1 smaller white plug from the cars harness that has nowhere to go into the new unit and this may be the problem. I'm not sure if its bluetooth or swc. I have read all 46 pages and I'm sure the answer is in there somewhere, but if I can avoid cutting and joining wires and just use a plug and play cable, that would be much, much prefered. I have used the APP091 ( it is suitable for the T31) cable to get it going for now, but could I use a patch lead as well for the controls and if so, which one? Basically I'd like to be able to use the radio buttons on the steering wheel. Here are more photos that may help. . Left over plug. Are the swc wires in the small or large white plug? Its a MY10, November series 3 I believe (LED) taillights.. I've been to Autobarn, and called a few places, but they don't seem too interested. If this would not work, is there any advice on drilling a hole for the camera just above the number plate and making this waterproof and rustproof. The ideal would be to see some photos or video by someone who has already made this installation. Alas, the photo links don't open. Could they be sent by email or PM, The rest, i.e. the wiring of this wireless/bluetooth system is simple, and don't need any help. Cheers, BRIAN Admin Edit: Email address removed for privacy reasons. I’m a new owner & member here, looking for a bit of advice on replacing the terrible satnav & cd/radio in my car. Got some info from the UK forums too. I’m hoping to fit a double DIN android unit (although haven’t got a clue which one, so many to choose from!) The question I still have is regarding steering wheel controls, I’ve seen it mentioned many times in this thread but not really found an answer. Would I NEED an adapter such as http://incartec.co.uk/nissan/1964/1033/2050/75/Browser.aspx 29-644 & 29-000 OR Is there any chance it would work without this? The head units seem to come with 3 wires to connect to the steering wheel controls, but some things I read seem to say I need an adapter like the above. It’s a little confusing, especially as I don’t have the head unit yet, just trying to price everything up 1st to see if I can afford it! Any advice/help appreciated including any Android unit recommendations Many thanks in advance nondisclosed_email@example.com (T30 uk)Thu, 05 Nov 2015 22:58:48 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088207,from=rss#post2088207https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088207,from=rss#post2088207I'd go with an Android based China sourced all in one unit if value for money is a priority and GPS a necessity, otherwise the Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpines etc sans GPS are better quality, GPS in the known brands add significantly to the cost of the unit. The T30 is a standard 2 din fitment so the choice in head unit is a endless. Eonon do some pretty good units And their software interface is pretty solid. Don't be put off by DIY stereo upgrade, xtrail is the easiest car to work on, one bolt gives you access to the stereo, 4 screws remove the unit buy a $15 Aerpro Nissan to ISO adaptor and your as good as done.nondisclosed_email@example.com (xr5turbo)Sun, 05 Jul 2015 19:11:31 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088012,from=rss#post2088012https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088012,from=rss#post2088012Hi all, I'm new to the forums. I must say this particular topic is an amazing read. Spent about 4 hours last night getting through it all. I just picked myself up a 2005 Nissan Xtrail T30 II Ti-L. My question really is what's the trend now? As a lot of the recommendations here are from a couple of years back I assume there are newer products now. Key brands I picked up on throughout this review are: - VMS Current Model seems to be an X500 priced at $995 Including Camera or $895 without - Brash Imports have a couple of ebay listings starting from $535 - Dig Options have a couple of ebay listings starting from $559 - Eonon GM5168 ($389 with AU/NZ Maps) or D5168Z ($359 with AU/NZ Maps) no reversing camera function? - Ali Express which have a range of products Key things I have been told to look for happy to be corrected: - OS Android - GPS system whereis - Camera - External GPS antenna - Plug and play so all adapters provided Thanks in advance Michael. nondisclosed_email@example.com (mrkenny1)Wed, 10 Jun 2015 14:36:58 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087422,from=rss#post2087422https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087422,from=rss#post2087422Its from Aliexpress, so ick111 should be able to post it up.
