Cool, because the T30 in Australia came with Bridgestones and Toyos from the factory.

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

So far I'm happy with the ST20's. 38,000 km so mostly on the bitumen but done a bit of gravel and beach/sand driving as well. Very happy with the sand driving with pressures dropped. Last service at 37,000 and the guys said the tyre were still 'excellent'.

The most damage I did was chipping of a part of the sidewall by hitting a concrete edge in a undercover carpark emoticon emoticon I will change the tyres into a AT type for a big trip planned for next year.

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

G'Day All,

32000Km in our 2009 Diesel T31, including a few thousand towing an 850Kg pop-up camper. Car is usually carrying a full complement of 5 passengers (3 kiddies). Duty cycle has been roughly 70% highway, 30% dirt/rural roads.

We're both very steady drivers, and the pressures are scrupulously maintained (best advice we've been able to get suggests 36PSI). Regularly rotated.

As in most past comments, the wear has been equal for us too, with no particular trouble spots.

At 30K service it was noted that the tyres are only just legal ... so I guess we'll be looking at a new set by the next service. They WON'T be ST20's.

We aren't too happy about what we see as a fairly short service life for these.

To put it into perspective, we got 94000Km out of our first set of factory Grandtreks on our Prado when it was new, and 104000Km out of our Bridgestones on the Suzuki Sierra when it was new. Both these figures startled the tyre people at the time.

So we are guessing that it's not our driving style that's the problem.

Fancy these getting about a third the mileage we're used to in the first set of factory tyres in our vehicles ....... sheeeesh!!

Cheers

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

26,000 km on the clock in our 2009 TS diesel manual. Tyres have been rotated. I keep the pressure in the front at 38PSI, the back is 33 PSI. Vehicle does 30% on dirt road with lots of rocks, so the front is inflated to take the bag out to avoid slashing the sidewalls.

The front tyres are now not legal, the backs are not far behind.

Definitely won't be buying ST's again and looking at the options for the next set of tyres.

Have a spare spare in the shed, so we will put the spares on the front for the moment and squeeze a few more km from the rear tyres.

Re:

Our `08 DCI had the 30k service done just before xmas and Nissan advised that there is ~5000k left on the tyres. After looking at the tyres myself 3 out of the 4 are on the limiters. Tyre pressure has been maintained at the 36PSI - Nearly all of kms travelled as been on road.

I will have to agree with everyone that you would think that the standard tyres would last a little longer than ~30k.

Same issue here with the OEM tires on our 2009 T31. Just hit 35k, and they have had it! Not happy with that... Looking at Coopers or Bridgestones...

Will have to sell a child to afford them.... emoticon emoticon

Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

As mention above, Nissan said 5k left. Got my new tyres yesterday with 32k on the clock. The guy from Bob Jane confirmed 2 were completely worn, 1 was just legal, and the other could've got another 1k. I think I changed at the right time.

Just like everything else, get a second opinion.

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

Well, after many of "those looks of pity" from all the tyre places we went to and asked about tyres for the Exy. we finally decided on the Yokohamas.

They were dearer than Coopers, but the warranty was better.

Cost was $1250 F&B with a free Alignment at Tyres & More Strathpine.

Told my Folks back in the U.S. and he nearly had a heart attack!

He can put a full set of Good tyres on his F-150 for $450! emoticon emoticon

Cheers,
David & SOnja
