Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

How are all the T31 owners finding the wear on the Dunlop ST20's as supplied OEM on the STL and Ti models?? (17" Rims)

Currently have 23500k on the clock and tyres are at least 75% worn. emoticon At this rate, will need 4 new tyres by 30k. To me this seems a little less than I have gotten from previous cars. Falcon I had could get easily 45 - 50k from a set. Tyres have been rotated at the 10k and 20k service and pressures are checked regularly. Wear is even across the tyre and not on the shoulder or just one side / position.

Interested to hear of other wear rates.

Cheers,
Andy

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

Howdy Andy,

I have a T31 Diesel and had to replace my ST20's by 30,000km as they were getting really close to the wear markers and i didnt want to risk driving to Sydney on them. Good sand tyre, but they wear way to quickly as you mentioned.
Changed mine for a set of Yokohama GO12 in the next size up, ive done over 14,000km on them and they havn't really worn much at all.

The dunlops gave a good ride, but wore quickly, they were probably cheap for Nissan to OEM. Has anyone bought another set of ST20 after their first set? I dont think that i would...

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

Just replaced the tyres on my T31 Ti at 48,000 kms. Hardly any off-road, and almost all on sealed rural roads.

I replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion STR's. Looks like they'll last a while, the X-Trail has been in for a new transmission since I got them fitted!! javascript:clickicon('emoticon');

Hi Guys,

Just a gentle reminder to keep the discussion on this thread directly related to Dunlop ST20's factory supplied tyres only and their wear factor.

There are far too many tyre replacement threads already and I don't want us to turn this thread into yet another tyre replacement discussion.

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

I've done 33000km on the ST20's, mainly on-road with maybe 2000km off-road and they're just about due for replacement. I think I'll probably get another 2000km out of them max. They've been rotated regularly and have worn evenly across the tyre.

In a lot of ways I've been pleasantly suprised by them. I've found them to give very good grip on-road even in heavy rain. Off-road they have have also given surprisingly good grip, especially when the pressures are dropped a little, and whether it's just by good luck or not I don't know but I've never had a puncture in them off-road either. Just wish you got slightly more km's out of them. Will probably replace them with some AT's as you can get them for the same price as ST20's but they're supposed to last twice as long.

Re: Tyre Wear on Dunlop ST20's

40,000 and compared them with a vernier on my colleagues new Xtrail and I was pressed to notice much difference.

I drive a manual and use the gears extensively - no unecessary hard braking either. I also carry a bit of gear in the back and keep them up at 38psi. Rotated every 15000.

Reckon they will go another 20000 at least.

Good highway pattern with very little road noise and not bad on sand with lower pressures.

Replaced the factory supplied tyres today with just a smidgen over 35,000 kms on the clock.

Not too shabby for a tyre designed to be replaced after 30K (noting too, that we tackled some rough corregated roads in the Northern Territory last July). emoticon

Due to replace my tyres again soon emoticon .

Sexy Exy has only done 55,000kms and this will be her third set of shoes.

Will not put the dunlops back on as they can not take what I dish out emoticon .

For highway tyres they see a lot more dirt and mud than the black stuff emoticon .

Regards Scot

Mike,

Does your T30 come with Dunlop ST20 tyres?
