I nearly spilt my coffee !

This would have to be the biggest news event in xtrail forum history. A current affair will be running this story tonight for sure.

Forget the Munaro, a nice big black "diamond edition", Pajero is what you need to start bling-ing up. emoticon

Re: Your car after your Xtrail.

From our friends at Wikipedia

The Mitsubishi Pajero was named after Leopardus pajeros, the Pampas Cat which inhabits the Patagonia plateau region in southern Argentina. However, because pajero is a slang term for "wanker" in the Spanish language, alternative names have been adopted for certain overseas markets. It is known as the Mitsubishi Montero (meaning "mountain warrior") in Spain, India, and the Americas (except Brazil), and as Mitsubishi Shogun in the United Kingdom.

A version of the Pajero/Montero was rebadged by Dodge as the Raider and the Gen I platform was later built under license by Hyundai Precision Products as the Hyundai Galloper.

I think that's enough reasons not to buy one.....

Now before you all jump on me, I am considering selling the Chrome Beast, problem is that I have no idea how much I should ask for it, it's total value is over $75,000 grand with all bells and whistles, but I know that I will not get anywhere near that figure. It's a hard one to value and even the local dealership valuer couldn't put a price tag on it when he inspected it, saying (it's one of a kind that he didn't come across one like that before) emoticon

From seeing modified vehicles, there is maybe 1 buyer in a million who will pay an above market price for a highly modified vehicle. Otherwise, add a couple to a few thou over redbook.... and thats what you will probably end up with.

Thats why the valuer didn't give you a figure, he either didn't want to offend you or insult you with the price.

You also have to factor in that the buyer has to be paying cash, as their financier will otherwise say no if the price is much beyond Redbook.

(This is speaking as a 4wd owner, who has a $32K 2nd hand Patrol that has cost somewhere between $50 & 60K in total..... and most insurers won't even look at due to the driveline mods (diff locks, regeared transfer case, modest legal suspension lift, barwork, modest stereo (about $1K worth of Pioneer), but in total..... insured through Australian 4wd insurance - DGA Insurance Brokers.

Fair enough. I'm not a pajero spruker at all. In fact I kind of fell into one after the xtrail, so there is no love there like I initially had with the 'trail.

But saying that, Id take a Pajero over a Prado any day. I dont know why Pathfinders arent involved in that battle themselves.

The Hyundia Terrican is based on the Gen I Pajero, although not sold anymore.

Re: Your car after your Xtrail.

Am sticking with the X-Tr for quite a while, but have been impressed with the ride, performance and quietness of the diesel Prado. I have travelled in one of these many times with the owner, on dirt roads and in the snow. Would seriously consider one if I needed something bigger, which I don't just now.

I was going to have a look at the Mitsubishi Challenger, not that I am jumping ship just yet.

Still smallish, diesel engine & improved 4wd capability. mmmm, T31?
