Re: NISSAN Service Costs Comparison T31 X-Trail

40,000Kms service 2 weeks ago at lakeside nissan was $420 - for Brake fluid change, Engine Oil and Filter, Pollen filter (aircon), Air cleaner filter, Tansfer gear oil change, Rear diff Oil change and a very comprehensive check, Battery diagnosis printout, Consult printout and brake pad/disk condition report.
DEFINATELY challenge them on this price!!
Hi Translucidus,
Obviously this post is a lil dated now and is only 6 months younger than my Exy! but has anyone made any recent discoveries on the 40,000km service that may have been addressed throughout the forum since then?
The mechanics up in the Isa don't have the best reputation up here, not just because of their sometimes excessive pricing but also due to their "apprentice" type work. It's even at the point where a number of my friends up here actually drive the 1,000km to Townsville for a service as they trust no-one in town :-(
To put it simply, I just want to make sure I'm paying for the efforts that are actually (and should be) put in as according to the manual. Providing that paperwork with the results of the tests done should be a good indication of their efforts I would think.
Any thoughts?
Ben
I should also mention my battery is on the way out, is that easy enough to change (I've done plenty but none with the electrics of the XTrail). Any catches?
I'm interested to know brake pad/rotor wear so I know when I can upgrade to those recommended already on this forum.
I have my own 20L drum of engine oil which is exactly the same as what they put in it. Supply my own, or would they supply it cheaper?
Upgraded to K&N Filter, ergo no need to change that. Same to the a/c in cabin filter only 7,000km young.
I guess asking for a quote based on original service, then a re-quote for parts supplied would be best way to go about it huh ...
