First 10000Kms Service

Ahoy everybody,

Wanted to inquire before i go ahead and book an appointment. First of all i'll be servicing my X-trail through the Nissan dealer here in Perth.

Second i'm really curious about the oil that they're going to use. Is it possible to get them use the oil i give them or i can at least ask them to use a specific grade ?

I've read different opinions in this forum but unfortunately there's to many of themn and i got myself the one that manual mentions as well - Castrol Sport Edge 5W-30 (talking about improving engine performance). Or it's best for them to do it and hopefully they know what they're doing ?!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Serge.

Re: First 10000Kms Service

Hi there guys,

I called to place just to get some quotes. One place gave me $307 for the service the other one gave me 290. One of them told me that they would use magnatec 15W-40 and were very surprised why would i use Castrol 5W-30 (saying that it's too thin and goes good with some fancy filter).

The other place on the other hand told me that they'd use Castrol either 10W-30 or 5W-30.

So i'm just a bit curious now which way is to go then. I thought they would know better but telling me that 5W-30 is no good kind of confuses me now.

And how is the pricing is it good (around 300) for a new car with only 10000 on the clock ?

Hi Serge,

Here is a post regarding pricing for the 10,000km service. Please use the site search function to find existing threads and post your questions there if your concerns are not covered adequately as it will help others to find the information later.

Also, here is a thread on the different grades of oil.

Then this thread explains mineral and synthetic.
