posticon Warning about parking at Wellington point Q.L.D

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let people know that when going to Wellington point to catch some sea breeze or to have lunch like Wendy and myself did today.

Beware where you park as you can get a bit of surprise.emoticon

We had found no spaces available to park and saw heaps of spare car and trailer parking and I did not see the sign and we got fined $50.00 for parking there. emoticon

This is the ruling for parking in the area,so I thought I should let other members aware of this as I would not like to see anyone else get caught.

Regards Scot

Re: Warning about parking at Wellington point Q.L.D

When I saw the thread topic I was expecting to read something along the lines of break & enter or some accident damage to your X-Trail while parked...

Scot, it might be worth challenging the ticket. If the signs were obscured (by trees, boats on trailers (probably not likely as they would've been out on the water!) or whatever) or just poor placement or inadequate signs. It can't hurt to try. You could even mention that receiving the fine was "a great discouragement for you to visit the area in the future" emoticon

I've almost had a similar experience @ Rose Bay (posh Sydney suburb) while stopped in one of those parking spots (there were plenty of empty boat-trailer spots but no normal spots left) in my work car with the engine still running, me sitting in the driver's seat, and talking on the hands-free, a local council ranger drove through the parking lot and stopped in front of me, gesturing towards the sign and for me to move on. I gestured back that I was on the phone (it should've been quite obvious as she could see me talking and no-one else in my car) yet she shook her head and repeated her gesture to move on. As I was on the phone I wasn't able to get out and explain that technically I wasn't "parked", and only "stopped". Some people really need a good kick up the bum to teach them a lesson, but unfortunately some people in a position of power don't take kindly to constructive criticism (actually you could also leave out "in a position of power")...

Good luck with your appeal if you decide to follow that avenue...

It is only $50.00.

And the ticketing officer said I could challenge it but that is the law in their area and they do not provide enough parking for single cars.

I personally will not go back to the Redlands area to spend my money for lunch from here on in.

I rather spend extra on fuel instead to find a place that will not fine me for parking.

Regards Scot

Scot

The Redlands shire is renowned for their "nazi" tactics, mate!

Next time you & Wendy decide to venture out for lunch, why don't you try the "better" part of the bay area. I know of a great bakery in Wynnum that has plenty of off street parking and great eats! (yes, I know... shameless self promotion ... emoticon )
