Exytasy's ride

Picked up the beast on the 30th December. Its a 2007 ST-S auto with 42000km on the clock. Absolutely loving it!

So far I have done the stereo install, the write up for that can be found at http://www.runboard.com/baustralianxtrail.f23.t124007|offset=10

Also I have bought the hi-tensile bolts for the recovery points, air compressor http://www.bushranger.com.au/maxair_2_compressor.php , a few snatch straps and some D-shackles (safety pins ain't gonna work :P)

Planned "mods" in the next couple of weeks is a spring lift, bash plate and get some tint on it emoticon

I have taken it off-road a few times already and the difference between the tyres at road pressure and at 16-18 PSI is unbelievable! I knew from past reading that tyre pressures had to be lowered for sand driving, but I gave it a shot with road pressures to know for myself how much of a difference it makes.

I am really looking forward to the adventures to be had in this emoticon

Re: Exytasy's ride

Thanks Jalal emoticon

I just finished installing the hi-tensile bolts, 2 on each side. I didn't realise there was a 3rd bolt higher up! Will do the 1 remaining on each side this week, I'm not driving 20 mins each way for $5 worth of bolts emoticon When I was under the car doing the bolts, I noticed 2 lovely dings on the oil sump emoticon definitely needing the bash plate!

In regards to the spring lift, I have read both sides of the argument on whether to go for the spring lift or the spacer lift. Both have their valid points and for easiness sake (and mechanical trade discount emoticon) springs will be installed. The one thing I am concerned on is wheel travel. I know with a higher spring, the shocker has not so much play to go up. Any thoughts on this?

Damn your good! It was kinda half way between two rocks and yanchep, pretty close to each other as you know

Lots of fun to be had up there, but I wasn't as game as I would have been if another 4x4 had of been there, didn't particularly want to get chassis deep without some form of help haha

Re: Exytasy's ride

yeh that last pic was where i got pulled over by the cops for a random license check.

they spent about 15 minutes looking over my car - i was thinking "ohhh here we go heres a yellow sticker", cops will do anything to get a p-plater off the road to the point where they would pick the smallest things or even make up something wrong with the car to yellow sticker it.) then they asked me if i had any under-bonnet modifications, i said no, not yet, and then he was happy to just notify me that my rear p plate had almost fallen off (i had used it as a funnel to poor vodka into flask just before i went clubbing so it was bent emoticon ) and let me go

so it all ended well, but that very spot is quite memorable emoticon

P.S. sorry brett and kev (pretty sure you gusy are both policemen am i right?) no offence to perth's finest, ive never personally had a bad experience with the police, but ive heard stories of my friends that have had VERY unfair dealings with perth's men in blue.

No I am not Cam and I am sure Brett will be the first to agree there are some who take their job too seriously at times but they are very much in the minority.
