T31 Floor Well

I've just noticed on my new T31 that the front floor wells (driver & passenger sides) seem to be split between a soft (cushion type) on the outer and hard normal flooring on the inner side. Is this new to the T31 or have X-Trails always had this type of construction? Yesterday I pulled up the carpet to investigate and the flooring appeared to be just insulation and nothing else.

I'm a little concerned that it may be possible to actually push through the soft side with a heavy foot when entering or disembarking the vehicle.

Re: T31 Floor Well

I'd noticed the same with mine a while ago and meant to have a look to see why one part was softer than the other but forgot about it. Not sure why you'd need a soft cushioned floor or why it needs to be split as it is.

Re: T31 Floor Well

I read a write up today in a UK magazine apparently one of the gripes of the previous model was cabin noise. The write up referred to more generous usage of sound deadening/insulation.

This must be what we can feel under our feet. I think the passenger side is actually more padded than the driver's side

Re: T31 Floor Well

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I just noticed something very weird in my X-trail today. I climbed into the back seat, chasing the kids, and I thought I was going to go through the floor.
On both the driver and passenger sides, in the rear, the floor is extremely "squishy", like its made of cardboard or something underneath the carpet.

I've owned the car now for nearly three years and never noticed, then again, not sure I have ever really been in the back seat!!

Is this normal? Would someone mind climbing in the back of their T-31 and verifying whether it is?
Mine is a diesel, if that makes any difference.....

Thanks!

Re:

Have you checked under the car to see if you still have a floor there and not a huge rust spot? LOL emoticon

It's normal mate, the T30 is the same, the carpet is a bit soft on those areas, that's all.
