Single Head Unit and Pocket Hi
I have just purchased my x-trail ST and want to replace the stereo with a unit that has MP3 and bluetooth. I spoke to one of the car audio shops this morning and they said that the x-trail has a slight curve where the stereo goes and if you replace the double-din unit with a single head unit with a pocket underneath, there is a slight gap due to the curve. Has anoyone done this? And is the gap noticable? I am wondering if I am better of with a double-din unit - only problem is that purchasing a double-din unit will use up all of my budget and I wont be able to get bluetooth.

Re: Single Head Unit and Pocket Hi
I haven't done this with the Xtrail however my VT Commodore had a double din stereo that I replaced with a single din and Mazda 323 'bucket'. From memory the Mazda 323 'bucket' was only about $12 from the dealer spares dept and had a lip that could be trimmed to size/shape required

Re: Single Head Unit and Pocket All the ST x-trails in New Zealand came out with pioneer single-din stereos due to the different FM tuning steps here. It came fitted to the top slot & I didn't notice any gaps. I have shifted mine to the lowest din slot as the lights from the stereo annoyed me at night, so can't give you a photo of mine.

Re: Single Head Unit and Pocket well buy a nissan pocket.... it cost the same and it will fit perfect...
try avoiding a universal pocket becaue there will prob be a gap... also if you dont know how to wire in the headunit please bring it to a shop because if u screw it up u might have to bring it to an auto-elec and that not fun...

Re: Single Head Unit and Pocket There are two types of pockets in the exy, the one with the flap door and without. I believe if you use the DIN pocket without the flap door, there will be no gaps at all, but it all depends on the height of the aftermarket head unit you're installing and how far it comes out of the dash or if sits flush inside its mounting bracket.
