Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

Alex,

Have you performed an ECU re-set after fitting the K&N Filter? If not, refer to THIS which shows how to do it.

Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

Unfortunately I brought the car in yesterday and only saw your email last night.Lucky for me my friend mechanic fix the problem for me or Nissan would have charged me $ 180 for it.
I wonder if I'm the only one that didn't know about the re-set.
I'm not sure if there are any instructions that came with the filter.
Thanks.
Alex

Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

Hi Alex,

Sorry, I just re-read your post and you seem to have posted in the wrong section of the forum, as your xtrail is the old shape T30 model and the ECU re-set procedure I directed you to is the T31 one.

Please refer to the ECU re-set procedure for the T30 models in the DIY Section of the forum.

All customers buying the K&N filter through the online xtrail shop are advised to re-set the ECU after 2 days of driving and the procedure is explained to them. I can't vouch the same for those who buy these filters elsewhere and it is certainly not part of the K&N instructions either.

A $180 charge to have the idle re-set is daylight robbery as it only cost $10.00 to do so at any Nissan dealer.

Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

Thanks for that . I was robbed for 4 years where I used to bring the car for service, I discovered that when this friend of mine did a service on my car and showed me parts that were never changed or cleaned charged for it every time and other issues that I was charged for never but checked or fixed . I bet it didn't only happened to me. Anyway better late than never !
I was very lucky nothing ever happened during our off road trips.
Thanks again, this is great site. emoticon

I just noticed in my reply there are some words missing or in the wrong place, I usually write very fast without checking before posting. Sorry about that.
I'm sure you understand what I meant.
Regards,
Alex

I want to get one of these but how does the warranty stackup when not using a non-genuine air filter ?

Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

Does not impact the warranty in any way. It's your choice just like it is your choice to fit a non genuine oil filter. Your service invoice will be cheaper if you notify that you have a permanent air filter there which they don't need to check.

Re: T31 Diesel K&N Air Filter

I'll be putting mine in next week some time. So i'll report back to let you know what i think.

Just received and installed the K & N Air Filter & it fitted in perfectly. I'll let you know how it performs after i get it back tomorrow from the Nissan 30000km service.
