Re: 2010 New Shape Nissan Patrol

I always reserve my judgement until I see the vehicle in the flesh. I have been pleasantly surprised by a number of cars and motorbikes after seeing them in the showroom compared to websites and magazine pics.

I don't think Nissan want to 'water down' the offroad credentials of the Patrol as has happened with other manufacturers.

Fingers crossed the new truck looks the goods otherwise my next car will be a Navara dual cab instead of a Patrol...

Re:

I had a look at the new Y62 Patrol V8 in the show room the other day.

It's a big unit, very squarish just like the Cruiser 200.
Very nice inside and out but doesn't look like it is intended for the bush.

Had a look at the fuel usage sticker on the windscreen and ouch, I remember the stats at Urban 17.5, Extra Urban 20.8, combined 14.5 litres per 100 kms.
With a 140 litre fuel tank, that won't take long to empty.

Prices start from $82000 ST-L, $93000 TI, $114000 TI-L.

Does it meet ADR yet?
I had a good look at one in Brisbane when I picked up my car. It was the one in all those ads and was going to be crushed due to not meeting ADR (not sure what was wrong with it).

Looks like a lounge inside with all that space. But I agree, not an off-road vehicle

Re: 2010 New Shape Nissan Patrol

I was told that the new Patrol is meant to be a direct competitor for the 200 Series Cruiser as that's where Nissan see the biggest market. It will still go off-road but like the 200 more often than not it will be purchased by people who tow big boats or horse floats.

Re: 2010 New Shape Nissan Patrol

If they don't bring it out in a V6 or V8 diesel then they will struggle to compete with the Landcruiser 200. Diesel is the fuel of choice in the outback so those wishing to venture off into the wilderness will have to carry heaps of jerry cans.

V8 petrol only by memory.
They are still keeping the workers favourite V8 diesel as is.

Most 200's I see up here do go off road, but I doubt anyone would take one of these out.

The new patrol not only doesn't have a diesel option, but only takes 98RON Unleaded. How many stations out west (or east for Perthians) carry PULP. Hah!

Next ARB accessory: Off-road tanker trailers emoticon

They are looking at an extremely limited market in Aus with the 1 model. I have not heard of any other models as yet.

Re: 2010 New Shape Nissan Patrol

They are still going to produce the 'old' Patrol alongside the new one. It will have the same 3L diesel, live axles etc. They just won't be updating it any time soon. Apparently they see that market as a niche.
