Hi All,

Nissan Australia made the following comment just now

quote:

Nissan X-Trail Australia
Hi All, as we have stated previously on multiple occasions, out technical team have found a fix, and this has been confirmed by multiple Dealers. If you have had this fix completed, and are still experiencing the problem can you please email community_manager@nissan.com.au with your full name, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the Dealership you had the fix done and when the fix was completed, we'll then be able to go back and investigate to determine if the fix isn't actually a fix as you suggest, or if there are other factors at play here.

Please post a confirmation in this thread as soon as you email Nissan Australia your details.

Re:

Not sure where they are getting their feedback because I only walked through the local Nissan dealers on the weekend and there is a new X-Trail with...you guessed it a towbar fitted and misaligned bumper. Only a few weeks ago my dealer told me the new vehicles they are fitting with towbars still have the same problem.

If they are talking about the fix attempt in December 2011 we have multiple owners that have provided feedback via their dealers that it didn't work.

So far they have chopped away at the bumper and elongated holes in the towbar. I would imagine the next attempt will be to cut the bumper surround away from around the reversing lights to allow the bumper to miss the towbar.

Given that some dealers didn't even notice the problem in the first place they are probably reporting the slight improvement by slotting the towbar holes as being a total fix.

Look forward to hearing the first positive feedback on this latest revelation.

Maybe post this information on FB in response to Nissan and also ad the dealership name, so they know.

Re:

Nissan's solution to the defective towbar is.....

wait for it.....

Increase the price of the genuine Nissan Towbar by 4% since 1/4/2012. hahahaha emoticon

That's one way to address a defective product, make it more expensive in the hope of selling less of 'em LOL emoticon emoticon

I have not even heard from Hayman and Reece as they keep telling me they will ring back but never do. I am thinking of a class action between Nissan and Hayman and Reece to get this sorted and I am wondering how many people will join me in getting this sorted.

I don't think you'll get very far Scot as It's not really a safety issue, more a cosmetic one.

That's what I think too Tony. Had it caused cracked chassis like it was the case with the T30 towbar fitment, it would have been a different story.

Re:

It can be a safety issue by allowing the gas from the exhaust to enter the cabin by Misalignment the rubber which stops the gases from re entering the cabin.

I would not like anyone to have to be poisoned first before they make a move.

I do think that my exy lets in the gas from the rear as the rubber does not seal properly from the trouble with the tow bar.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

It's been a while since checking in, so an update from mine.

After contacting Nissan Aust, I did receive a call from my local dealer Lander Nissan a few days later. He was the new Service Manager, unfamilar with the issue it seems. He was under instruction to assess it and report back to Nissan. All he did was take a couple of pictures and measurements. This was 7 weeks ago.

Was a curious fellow. Said something along the lines of...never seen anything like it before. My reply - "follow me". We walked through the carpark of the Service Area, of course, X-Trails a plenty and showed him one, two, three....think it was five all up. And then an X-Trail without a towbar, you can really notice the differtence when there next to each other!
