Nissan's solution to the defective towbar is.....
wait for it.....
Increase the price of the genuine Nissan Towbar by 4% since 1/4/2012. hahahaha 
That's one way to address a defective product, make it more expensive in the hope of selling less of 'em LOL

That's what I think too Tony. Had it caused cracked chassis like it was the case with the T30 towbar fitment, it would have been a different story.

It's been a while since checking in, so an update from mine.
After contacting Nissan Aust, I did receive a call from my local dealer Lander Nissan a few days later. He was the new Service Manager, unfamilar with the issue it seems. He was under instruction to assess it and report back to Nissan. All he did was take a couple of pictures and measurements. This was 7 weeks ago.
Was a curious fellow. Said something along the lines of...never seen anything like it before. My reply - "follow me". We walked through the carpark of the Service Area, of course, X-Trails a plenty and showed him one, two, three....think it was five all up. And then an X-Trail without a towbar, you can really notice the differtence when there next to each other!
