T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Hi All,
Has anyone experienced any problems with their tailgate leaving rub marks on the inside lip of the rear bumper. There does not appear to be any paint damage to the inside of the tailgate. Any thoughts.

I just about to clock up 20000 and no sign of rubbing on mine either.
Try screwing out those little black stoppers and it may solve your problem.

I went back to my dealer (Grand Nissan), who were very good and rectified the problem, however after that the rear bumper did not line up nicely. There were uneven gaps between the tailgate and the bumper surround as well as a misalignment of the black plastic trim on the tailgate. The guys at Grand took the bumper on and off a few times to try and realign it, but to no avail. They then had a look at some other T31's they had there which were also fitted with a towbar and the same problem had ocurred. This was susequently reported to Nissan who are currently investigating the issue. If you have a genuine Nissan towbar on your T31 it would probably pay to check out the gaps and trim alignment at the rear and see if the same problem exists. If they do, I suppose you would then be a good idea to let your dealer know as it appears to be a warranty issue.

Mine looks nice and straight, but i had mine fitted at lakeside... i think a contractor does it..

Checked mine too - all good - only issue I had with the factory towbar was that the wiring for the socket was not brought through the facia but under so it can hook/snag onto something at the first opportunity.

Yep, mine is also good and straight.

Have they replaced the towbar? it could have a twist in it due to welding (very common) and that could be throwing the alignment out.

Thanks guys for your input and Tony's comment about a faulty towbar seems to be a valid point that i will raise with the dealer tomorrow. The only problem is that grand state that another T31 they had there at the same time as mine - was infact worse in the rear tailgate/bumper alignment. I will let you know how I get on. I am still going to send of some pics etc to Nissan as the rubbing is causing the paint on the inner lip of the tailgate to wear and could lead to potential problems which I am sure they would rather fix now than later.
