Re: Audio upgrade to dbl din... advice please

Dave,

What head unit have you got and do you find the hands free and mic effective.

I fancy having the hands free built in to the HU as I am always forgetting to charge my ear piece, but I am not too sure I fancy installing the mic.

Thanx

Jim

What was involved with getting the drivers side glove box out? and the column trim ... my big fear is making a mess of these things!

Hi Jim, you might want to read the instructions in this thread. Sorry I only have instructions on how to remove the driver's storage compartment as I haven't tried removing the side A-pillar trim...

Jalal, are you able to cut-and-paste that into a FAQ to be included with all the other FAQ's from the main page, as I wasn't aware that removing the driver's storage compartment might be something that other members might need to do even if they weren't doing the torque-display project...

Rich,

Thanks for the link... it shows and tells me everything I need to know. It actually does not look too difficult.

I can see if I have wiring for tweaters whilst I am there.

Thanx

Re: Audio upgrade to dbl din... advice please

I am in to my mod now... I'll post some pics tomorrow .

So far so good ish.... On removing the main facia a cpl of the white spring clips that push over the tongues on the facia have snapped. I've posted else where asking if anyone knows a part number.

Next issue is poor radio reception and I reckon I need to get power up to the aerial.

I'm indoors now and its dark! But when I ripped out the original radio I had 3 multiway connectors 2 or which plug in to the new ISO converting loom and ine which will go in to a sterring column control kit when my supplyer sends me the right one! and of corse the aerial bannana plug. No lose wire for aerial power.

Could the aerial power wire be one of the ones running to a multiway ? Can anyone hazard a guess as to what colour it is and how to juice it up. The wiring loom for the new Pioneer head unit has various options for things inc one which I thought was for an auto up telescopic type aerial.

Thoughts and help gratefully recieved guys

Yes you do. Check THIS thread for the antenna power diagram and info.

Excellent.... I simply connecte two connectors on a blue cable in the Pioneer loom that are labelled as the trigger for an auto up aerial and Bingo.... cracking reception.

Thanks All.
