Cooling fan motor-2 not function, engine over temperature.
18:16 17/10/2551
Hi exy-oz,
My exy got overheat lastweek, slow creeping traffic for 2 hours on hot-humid BKK. weather.
Temp. meter went up to around 10 O'clock position, a/c stopped function.
Bonnet opened and saw that only cooling fan1 was operating,fan2 stood still.
Cooling fan relay-1 and cooling fan relay-3 found normal.
Fan1 & Fan2 connections found normal.
Strangely, knockings on the fan2-motor made it woke up, buttt..when restart the engine, have to knock it again.
Could anyone help solve this problem?
Solution appreciated.

Re: Cooling fan motor-2 not function, engine over temperature.
Hello hotchaa,
Since your Xtrail is still under warranty being only a 2007 model I would take it into the dealer and have it replaced.
Cooling fan-2 operates at either low or high speed depending on engine temperature.
The problem could be a faulty dry or siezed bearing or high speed winding fault in the fan motor.
