Engine appears to lose power when...
...in mud or a river crossing. I've had this happen before and asked about it to no avail.
It seems as though the ESP gets triggered in these conditions due to tyre slip, but I have had the ESP disabled.
Exampe 1: Bogged in mud, and I cannot stop the engine from stalling even when revving highly (full throttle) in first gear.
Example 2: Climbing out of a river crossing, engine loses power up the slippery hill such that it stalls in first gear, at full throttle. No water got in the intake or distributor, before anyone asks. After a few seconds break I got up by playing the clutch heavily, but I would never have thought it necessary to do so.
Am I asking too much? I would have thought 125Kw would be sufficient under these circumstances. The X-trail did wonderfully well on the weekend except for the above problem. For those that know (or have heard of) the Reynolds river track, be assured the T31 X-trail is more than capable. 600mm river crossing...no problem (with blind attached). Rutted sand...no problem.
Any other ideas? All I can think is that the 'ESP off' button isn't really turning the ESP ompletely off. Has anyone else come across the same prblem?
