Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

Hi Jase,

When you call Nissan next time tell them that you're willing to pay for the recall to be carried-out as it is safety concern. If they still refuse to do so, ask them to put it in writing and send you a letter and tell them you gonna use that latter in case of an accident that results from this defect.

Well

Shelly from Nissan Australia told me diddley squat. as it is not on there records she could not even tell me if it should be done or not. I have called the local nissan dealership to find out how much it will cost. but it sounds like it will take a while, since no one has ever had to pay for it, and is not even sure if the parts can be ordered with out a recalled vin number to use....... ahhhhhh

watch this space

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

Hi Jase,
What part of the Xtrail was damaged to cause it to be a repairable write-off ?

Jalal,
If it was a part of the Xtrail away from any steering components then couldn't Jase argue that it should still be fixed under warranty as that part of the Xtrail was still in original condition ?

Nope Kev, regardless of where the damage originally was when the car was written off, it will be automatically taken-off the Nissan system and all warranties applied to it will be void...for any part of the car.

Jase is lucky to buy the T31 in time before the new legislation which will see all repairable write-off banned and can never be re-registered again (in NSW for now at least)

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

well bad new still keeps coming.....

I finaly heard back from the private dealer that i bought the xtrail, he had sold a total of five xtrails both petrol and diesel and sent the vin numbers of all five to nissan today and only three needed recall's so i was told and mine was not one needing the recall according to him.

does this sound right????

I am thinking i might just pay for it my self and save all of the hassle.
At least i know my wife is safe when driving it.

Kev -

The Xtrail was at a nissan dealer in QLD i think it was in windsor, the hole yard got writen off due to flood damage from what i was told and what i can see on the xtrail, mine did not recive any damage but the hole yard was done under insurance.

hope that helps ......
