Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

I found that after having my steering recall done im getting some vibration when im braking. At first i thought it was something i had done, but a friend of mine who has a dualis had the recalls done and his had the same problem. His Nissan dealer has fixed it so ill book mine in for a look too. Im about to hit 50,000km so ill probably just wait until then..

Anyone esle get this vibration?

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

Hi All

Is it a legal requirement that the dealer puts on sticker to notify the recall notice action has been done. I had the recall done by DJ Nissan in December but after comments made by members I can not locate a sticker any where....Next time I'm speaking to Nissan I will ask.

Hi Ross,

It is not a "legal requirement" but dealers should either put the recall sticker near the driver's side door hinge or give you a recall service invoice confirming the recall service was done, so you can show it to the next person buying your car.

Thanks,

Just wanted to make sure as there was no sticker. But I did receive a recall service invoice. So all is good...anyways don't know why I'm concerned cause I love our exy and won't be selling it for a few years till I feel the need for a larger 4wd.

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

Hi every one

i was doing some reserch and my xtrail is in the affected bunch but when i rang nissan aust. The nice lady told me that my TL was not affected and dose not need the recall done, even thought it comes in the bracket for the recall.

But when i was getting the 1000km service the dealership has put it on the invoice but did not do it. As the car has been listed on revs, there for writen off on the nissan data base for waranty purpose. The service manager said that i would need to find out off nissan to see if would be covered......

what should the next step be, i am still not shure if it should be done or not..... any one have any idea ....... i dont realy want things to fall off as i am driving.....lol

thanks for any info

jason

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

I had a similar problem with my TS though it was another dealer that had used my VIN and Nissan uses the VINs to send out the kits to the dealers. I had to argue with the dealer who had to argue with Nissan to get the kit sent out. Eventually it was but they had to use yet another X's VIN to get it emoticon

If the recall hasn't been done then you need to go back to the dealer and get them to do it. If they need to get a re-issue then so be it but ensure it is done to keep your resale and safety up.

Cheers

Pete

Jason,

The question here is if you T31 is really a repairable write-off that was listed on REVS as such, because if it is, the Nissan manufacturers warranty does NOT apply to it anymore. They void the warranty as soon as the car reported as write-off.

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

hi jalal
yes it has been listed as writen off on revs. and i know that it has no genuine nissan warranty. but when i rang nissan aust. i asked if a saftey recall was needed to be done would it still be done and i was told yes. but then was told that it was not one of the xtrail's that needed to be recalled even though it comes in the recall window. She also told me that the dealership was wrong in saying that it needed to be done on my car.

is it true that not every t31 in the recall, really needed the recall.
sounds a bit funny that out of all the affected t31's there are a few that dont need to be looked at.

does this sound right or am i getting led down the garden path.....

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

The only reason I think Nissan told you that it doesn't need the recall done because it is no longer on their system and is flagged as a write-off, so even if you are to do the recall Nissan are not obligated to cover the recall service by the factory warranty. Basically, they're trying to save money by not doing a recall service on a written-off car. I won't be surprised if they ask you to pay for this recall to be carried-out on your exy.

If your VIN is within the affected range then it is affected by the recall and yes, not all T31 xtrail were affected depending on the year.

Re: Recall for the T31 *Steering Related*

jalal,

i was expecting nissan would not pay for it, i would go back to the dealer that i bought the t31 off and will be expect him to pay for it. but for nissan to tell me it does not need to be done even though my vin matches the affected group. Saftey wise it is a concern as my wife drives the car and would not pick up on any steering woes.

what is the next step........
