T31 Fuel Tank Protection

Friend of mine just spent a week in Alice Springs waiting for a new fuel tank for a Forester. He had a stone thru his on the Tanami Track (not a bad road, stony in places). Looking at the T31 the tank has no protection other than a bit of plastic in front of it. I am thinking of gluing a piece of hard sheet rubber (about 5mm) on the bottom. Would reduce clearance slightly but may help. Anyone tried something like this?

Re: T31 Fuel Tank Protection

No have not thought of doing that.
The plastic guard near the fuel tank we apparently removed it unknowingly on one of our trips.
So unless you use a good adhesive you may loose it on your first trip out or it may fall off if too much dust and dirt get between.
The t31 is great on gravel roads when you take the esp off and put the car in auto.

Re: T31 Fuel Tank Protection

I have just completed the Oonadatta track and didn't have any problems with the fuel tank in my T30. Is the T31 fuel tank different???

The water tank in the trailer was a different matter....
