Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

The bigger issue is safety - why mod a car so that under certain circumstances the car locks itself and the headlights go off without warning!!!!!

Any future driver who didn't know about the mod could easily have this problem and not have a clue how to deal with it.

Imagine an 18 year old daughter driving 100km/h down a busy freeway at night and the lights go out - recipe for disaster

Call me old fashioned, but in my opinion this mod should never be carried out and all such modified cars should be have the mod reversed!!!

Re:

I wasn't responding regarding this mod in particular and while it is not against ADR to have this mod done, all owners should revert it back to factory when it comes time to sell the car or notify the new owner, as I can clearly see headaches for anyone trying to figure out why the key remote fob cannot be coded correctly (should there ever be a need to recode the remote fob) with the harness for the chime being disconnected and in fact dealerships will try and charge customers for a new ECU and will probably use it as an excuse to do so!

Just be mindful of this indeed.
