The only time I heard this happen was with a non airbag compliant nudge-bar. The insurance company asked for a certificate of compliance and refused the claim when one couldn't be produced.

Is there a disclaimer somewhere in this forum about modifying vehicle at your own risk (commonsense approach by anyone anyway)
Yes there and it was posted to you HERE and the official version of it can be found on our main site: www.australianxtrail.com.au
Your concern and warning have been noted and am sure each owner can make-up their own mind as to what to do (or not do) with this mod.
This mod doesn't have the same impact on the T30 as far as I can tell and with the amount of lights I have on my exy even if I press the remote button, I will still have something shining up the road LOL

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime
They turn themselves off after about 10 seconds, when the car locks itself, thats it.
I will reconnect my chime after I log out and report back.

Tony,
Do you mean that remote buttons work with the key-in chime plug connected as well?
Jalal,
I just re pluged in the chime and I can confirm that the bittons are innactive (don't work) when the chime is plugged in.
They only work (lock the car whilst running) with the chime un plugged.
I will make a note on the first page of this thread. Can you please ammend it your DIY spread.

The problem is that when you applied for insurance in the first place you would (or certainly should) have been asked the question "have you made any modifications to the car?". If you do not declare the modifications and you subsequently have a claim, and the insurance company discovers that you had non-standard modifications to the car that you didn't declare, then I think you give the company a good excuse to void your insurance... particularly if the modification screws around with Australian Design Rules.
All I am saying is be very, very careful that you are not giving the insurer an easy way out. Because you won't have a leg to stand on in the courts if they decide not to honour a claim.

Re:
None of the insurance companies I dealt with ever asked this question before a claim, certainly not when I was claiming my wife's written off Tiida which was full of modifications. The only time they asked the question if the car was modified was before drafting up a new insurance policy and even then their main interest is that it wasn't turbo-charged or had a loud exhaust system
I agree however that modifications must not impact on ADR in any way! You must be mindfull of that indeed.
