Zhivan,

That was the reason I asked you about it today, cause I wanted to do it while you were at my place emoticon

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

Hey all

There's one thing I found tonight when I got home, when I normally turn the car off and pull the key out of the ignition, the interior light automatically comes on, It doesn't do that now because I pulled the plug.

I found that light a bit annoying so it doesn't really bother me that it doesn't come on.
If I need the light, I just turn it on.

Better than that annoying chime.

Tony

Yep and the same thing happened with the T30 and it's pretty negligible, as the light will come on as soon as you open any door anyway.

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

Was just about to dive in and do this mod while doing the reversing camera but then remembered my old car that had a habit of sometimes locking the doors when closing the drivers door and locking the keys inside (only caught once). Needless to say at this stage I'll leave the annoying chime to remind me.

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

If the T31 is the same as the T30 when it comes to central locking, then it will never self-lock the doors when you leave the keys inside the car. In fact it will never self-lock the doors period. Try it with the spare key in your hand and close the door with the other key in the ignition.

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

Tried it out. With key in ignition and doors closed they will lock with button on armrest but if doors open will not lock. So I guess they could lock when the key is in the ignition as the door is closed but I will admit highly unlikely as it would need some mechanical intervention. My old car used to central lock when you pushed the knob at the top of the door and when closing would sometimes be enough of a jar to operate the knob.

Re: T31 Key In Ignition Chime

Yeah Chris, what I actually meant is that the exy is not equipped with an automatic central locking, which usually self locks all doors after a period of say 3 minutes or so if you forget to lock the door and walk away, so there is basically no chance of the xtrail locking your keys in unless you have the key and the remote fob kept separate from each other and leave the key in the ignition and then lock it from the outside, which basically means you can still get in and retrieve the key emoticon
