Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

A friend with a T31 asked if there was a way to temporarily switch off the reverse parking sensors (other than by dis-engaging reverse gear). Other Nissan models have a switch to turn it off when reversing with a trailer for example. Is there such a switch on the T31?

Re: Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

Hi Ron
I have a T31 ST and I noticed that when I have a trailer on, and lock the car, the indicators on the trailer don't work.
I took it to nissan to rectify and they told me nothing was wrong.

They said that there are 2 additional wires in the plug (car) and this eliminates any short circuit that the trailer may give the car. emoticon
I then pulled the harness apart and noticed the 2 extra wires.

My point is that these 2 wires may have something to do with the rear sensors dis- engaging when a trailer is pluged in.

Hope this helps
 emoticon

Tony

Re: Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

I would very much like to turn my park assist off ... it drives me crazy with false reflections from the roadway ... I think a reversing camera would be a much better idea. I cant see a fuse for this thing in either of the T31 fuse boxes.

Re: Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

John,
The sensors should not pickup the road, but may pickup any guttering or speed humps.
Give tham a clean and see if it helps, otherwise have service check them for positioning.

Re: Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

G'day Snoopy6,

I know what you mean cos this same problem drove me crazy in the first week I had my Exy. I took it back to the dealer and they told me it was a known problem caused by the sensors being crammed into holes that were too small in the rear bumper. The dealer popped them out, made the holes a bit bigger and then reinstalled them. They work perfectly after the mod.

Re: Turning reverse Parking sensors off?

i know someone who has got a tow bar fitted and she has a problem of the sensors beeping every time she reverses. So she has taken the tow bar off, seems to work fine now.

By the way, i didn't know the beep was so loud and could be heard outside of the car - i could hear it loudly as she was reversing out of my drive way! i thought the beep was inside the car??

cheers
matt
