I thought it was only planes that had YAW sensors - isn't it something to do with the skew of the rudder? emoticon

Re: t31 faulty yaw sensor

Hi Naff,

It was a new one on me as well, but it turns out that when its not functioning it can/and has disable the ESP(Electronic Stability Program) and ABS! all up "NOT GOOD". I'm hoping that the Nissan tech's are correct because Nissan doesn't have the part in Australia! and a wait of 2 weeks to come from Japan is expected. All I can say is petrol must be really expensive over there because it must be coming by row boat now....lol!

All up I've the x-trail has been great so far! Let's hope this is a one off!

Dan.

Hey Dan can you explain when and how you found out about the problem.

quiet some time ago we were camping and the car had been sitting for a few days ( very new still ) I went to start it and it had troubles starting ..when it finally started the fuel gauge said it was nearly empty and the abs and esp was disabled. I turned the engin e off and stared it again and every thing was fine ... and has never happened again.

Re: t31 faulty yaw sensor

Hi Peta & Brad,

The fault lights came on while I was doing a U turn on a sealed road, I was going reasonably slowly and the road surface was dry. At this point the car had only travelled around 1500km from new and no warning lights had appeared until then. Interestingly I initially though the transmission was slipping as well, but later found out it was the ABS engaging and then re-boosting(made a grinding noise).
When I first took it into the local dealer, I was told nothing was wrong and no faults showed up and he implied I must have been smoken something!!
Understandably I was pissed of and said I'll Be BACK! 10 minutes latter I walked back in with all lights blazing. Feeling very satisfied, but none the wiser! This time the fault did come up and it was narrowed down to the yaw sensor, through the Nissan diagnostics.

If your car has done this sort of thing in the past I strongly suggest you get it checked out! The dealer offered a loan car due to the wait and safety side of things.

So that's about all at this point while i wait for the parts to get here on the slow boat... Dan

Dan,

Have you asked the dealer what was the error code they got when they hooked-up their Consult III?

I was searching the service manual for this error, but I need the code to see what it means and how does it happen.

Re: t31 faulty yaw sensor

Hmmm totally differnt problem me thinks as ours was done under start up but it is a problem that will be checked at its 10000km service as it hasn't happened again in 6000kms I will habd the dealer the list of problems at its service and killl 26 birds with the one stone...
Other problems are not issues witht he exy but ways in which options were attatched by the service department.

Re: t31 faulty yaw sensor

Hi guys,

A little slow on the update, been a little bit to busy lately.
So here goes, this is a run-down on events of the day at the service department. The x-trail was booked in for first job of the morning at 8.30 am and an expected completion time was given for around 12noon.
Unfortunately it turn out to be a bigger job than was expected and the car was finally deliver late afternoon! oh it was delivered by the Dealer Principal in person!?? Apparently there are two sensors together, but only show up as one on the parts ordering system!? Supposedly the other sensor was the problem....fortunately for me they had other new x-trails in stock and where able to raid one for the part required emoticon

So far two weeks on and all seems good.
