Hi there,

I think you need FM transmitter which are now available from many companies, to get the idea on how they look like or what they can do click here

Hi Sonny3,

Yep, it sounds like the X-T and iPod combo is not supported.

We are picking up our X-T next week and have thought it odd that the X-T is the only car we have been looking at that doesn't include an iPod (or 3.5mm jack) as standard.

Cheers

David

Re: Conection for i-pod or USB

It might be worth investigating replacing the head unit to get the ipod connectivity at least get the deck to control and navigate the ipod. I have used fm transmitters in the past with my 2004 pulsar which has the same stereo as my 07 sts. With some big brand manufacturers having units for $199 with ipod integration it would be worth it, this is my intention in a couple of weeks.

Cheers

Tom

Re: Conection for i-pod or USB

Excuse my ignorance re playing MP3s through the stereo in our soon-to-arrive T31 Ti. I was expecting to just be able to buy a cable for our iPod and plug it into the stereo, but on test drives etc I have seen no such jack. I saw a heap of MP3 'adaptor'-type accessories in JB Hi Fi - do we need one of those before we can listen to toonz off our iPod? Bit ordinary.

Thanks,

Ade

Re: Conection for i-pod or USB

Not sure about earlier models, but the T31 stereo supports MP3 discs. Personally I usually get 6-8 CDs worth of music on an MP3 disc, so with the stacker full you can get anywhere from 30-50 CDs worth of music in there (approx). For longer trips I'll keep using the FM transmitter for the iPod, but for around town MP3 discs hold more than enough.

Just another option. emoticon

So can anyone confirm if you can buy a cable to plug into the back of the standard stereo or you have to use a FM transmittor?

Sadly there is no connector front or back on the standard stereo. You have 2 options:
1) Replace the head unit with a single/double din system
2) Buy an FM transmitter

Also be carefull if you are considering replacing the head unit yourself.
There is some pretty funky wiring back there, and no aerpro adapter for the T31 (yet).

First thing you will notice is the lack of standard antenna socket.

Well, thats how it is on my TL anyway, ill have to get someone else to fit it i think...

Cheers,

Dronus

Re: Conection for i-pod or USB

Hi, I have a T31 ST and I've been looking into ipod/MP3 FM transmitters. Hence I've done a fair bit of research into them. The short story is that FM transmitters are unlikely to work successfully as the car antenna is designed to be sensitive to signals coming in from generally all directions other than underneath it as is the case with the FM transmitters. The only way to get around the directional issue is to use a reasonably high power transmitter but this may be difficult due to licensing.

The closest I could find is a device from Jaycar that essentially switches the radio's antenna input between the antenna and an aux/ipod input, however the sound clarity is supposed to be fairly average. Hence I didn't worry about spending the $70 on one.

Personally I've resided to the fact that I can't connect my MP3 player through the Nissan stereo and I'll probably buy a radio/dvd/gps/mp3 through ebay for about $500 when Kevin Rudd gives his next hand out!!

If anyone thinks different to the above comments or has positive experiences with FM transmitters I would love to hear from them.

Cheers,
Scott
