'Murdering' an X-Trail?

Somehow I have had foxtel for over a year and have never seen the Rob & Big show until about last month some time.... I love their Chevy Tahoe (being from Canada I miss real trucks) and I especially love what they have done to it. The Americans call it 'murdering' a car, making it all black.... flat black, even the wheels and everything. Here is a link to an american tahoe forum that shows a 'RIDES' magazine article on the car that Rob & Big have.

 http://www.chevroletforum.com/archive/threads/rob-bigs-flat-black-07-tahoe-32716-1.html

does anyone know what it would cost to have my T-31 (gloss black) murdered? I am not after a proper quote or anything, but just in general what it would cost to get the car and some rims Flat Blacked?

Also, (and I will post this in the tire & wheel forum) in the massive 25 page thread on wheels and sizes and all that, someone mentioned that if you get an engineering certificate you can go more than the legal 1" extra width (eg 7.5") and not run afoul of the law or insurance. I know I can get 18's easy as pie, but I want 20's. Does anyone know if that is true or not as I can't find anything about that in VICRoads info.

Rta says that over an inch wider is fine, as long as you get an engineering certificate.

Grab some sand paper and murder your exy all you want LOL emoticon It won't look gloss black but I can't guarantee that it'll look flat black either emoticon

As for the wheels questions and links, please post those in the "wheels thread"

Well, the really would be murder, but probably no worse than the fact that I have had the car over 6 months now and have never washed it.......

If you read the heading of the article properly,
"murdering" means "having the vehicle completely black with no chrome".

So if you start with a black Xtrail, you only need to change the chrome door handles, chrome rear tailgate handle, chrome grille, all the chrome badges and replace the alloys with black ones. No need to repaint in a flat black colour.

I know it just has to be black, but seeing that Satin/Matt black on TV, that Tahoe looks tough as!! My only hesitation is matting the car will completly destroy any and all resale value if I were to try to sell it in 5-10 years........

Re: 'Murdering' an X-Trail?

If you gonna go all the way murdering an exy, then having it repainted again in 10 years shouldn't be a problem for what you wanna do.

I would have considered doing something like this on a 20 year old car, but NEVER on a brand spanking new one!
