T31 Bonnet Protector

Hello everyone,

I finally picked up my T-31 in early April and it has been a great ride so far. Covered over 1000km and taking it in for servicing this weekend.

Unfortunately noticed my first paint chip about 1/3rd way up on the bonnet this weekend. It is really tiny (3mm x 2mm), but looks fairly deep - I can see three layers of paint. Must have been a stone chip from roadwork enroute to Newcastle over ANZAC day weekend. I am planning to purchase touch-up paint from Nissan and fix it up. Anything else I can/should do? I don't want corrosion damage...

Also, would a bonnet protector help with these type of stone chips? If so, I'd probably get one this weekend as well....

Jalaski: Do you stock any of the clear bonnet protectors?

Thanks!

Re: T31 Bonnet Protector

A bonnet protector is a must for any xtrail due to the very large and exposed design of our bonnets that have a wide edge facing the road.

Touch-up the damage as soon as possible to avoid rust.

Sorry, I only carry the dark tinted one, as I found the clear bonnet protector to show dirt and other trapped stuff behind it easily, which is not all that pretty.

Hey Jalal

Why doesn't Nissan supply a small container of touch-up paint in the glove box? Do we have to purchase it separately or did I miss out? emoticon
I would have thought that Nissan expect users to throw their Exy's around in "scratchy" environments (ie the bush & carparks emoticon ) and provide one with compliments. I got a small tin with my Hiace on purchase.......

You didn't miss out mate, Nissan just doesn't seem to include it with a new car, although my 97 Toyota Camry had it in the glovebox and it was the perfect piece of kit they could have included in there for small area touch-ups.

With Nissan you gonna have to buy the touch-up paint from the dealer for around $10.00
