Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Gee! I could'nt believe my eyes when i read about the comiitment to a diesel Exy in Australia. I'm not usually a favoured manual driver, but with 360Nm of torgue why wouldn't you get excited! The power and torque figures of that manual spec are actually better than the 3 litre Patrol and only slightly down on the manual Pajero in terms of torque.

As stated already the price difference between petrol and diesel seems to slowly growing. It wasn't to long ago before the better grade of fuel was introduced that diesel was cheaper by 5 - 10 cents per litre, now diesel is dearer by an average of 15 - 20 cents. With a premium of around $3500 - $4000 for a diesel model it would certainly take possibly 5 years at an average of 20 k per year to break even. This may be a lttle disappointing for the average buyer who just wants a great mechanical package, but without the extra premium.

Cheers emoticon

I would bet the auto cant handle the torque so has been detuned. Alot of manufactures do this.

Sure, but this difference is between the TS and TL models and both come with either manual or auto.

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Nope Kev, this difference in between Manual and Auto in all diesel grades (TS and TL). It's not like the TS Manual will have less power and torque than a TL model.

Speaking of which, Nissan could have been a bit more creative when they decided on the model names, something with "d" would have made it a lot easier to distinguish ST-d for example.

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

And it looks as though theres no U -beaut CVT transmission just a six speed auto that is not as economical as the manual ??

I agree the torque qould be brilliant but I am not overley impressed with the fuel usage figures considering real life driving usually is greater than the claimed usage by the manufacturer and also the petrolto diesel gap prices will not stop increasing as diesel becomes more and more in demand

hahahahahahahahahahaha

Brings back memories of Jalal's recent service banter, but with a twist ...

Service: What is your Xtrail rego ?
Jalal: XTRAIL
Service: Yes you have an Xtrail but what is it's rego ?
(... after some minutes...)
Service: OK, what model Xtrail is it ?
Jalal: I've got STD
Service: We don't fix those problems here.
