Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any issues with the fuel tank guage after they have completely filled the tank?

When fille the tank up and I even over spilled it, the gauge is still missing a couple of bars only recently though, since the last 2 fillings.

Before that it weas fine.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Please start posting questions relating to the T31 exy in the respective forum sections.

Example: Parking sensors question can go to the "Audio, Visual and Electrical" section of the forum. To make it more obvious you may want to title the thread or your question as "T31 Parking Sensors" or T31 Fuel Guage"...etc

In regards to your sensors question, this is normal is it has been raining and there is build-up of moisture on the sensors. Mine does the same thing, so all you need to do is wipe them and they should be fine.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

The fuel gauge problem has happened to me once and I thought I didn't fill up all the way.

In terms of the reverse sensor, I had the same problem before. The service department told me that the hole for the sensor is too small and too much pressure is building on the sensor and give incorrect reading.

What they have done was to bore out extra 0.5mm and the problem disappear.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

I have just had X-Trail in for its 10K service and I mentioned that I had experienced some inconsistencies with my fuel gauge. The Service guy contacted Nissan and they came back with - it was a known problem with the T31 and they were currently working on a solution. My Nissan dealership has promised to keep me informed when they hear back from Nissan with their answer in the next couple of weeks. So watch this space!

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

I have trouble filling my exy but found a way to beat it.
There seems to be an air lock due to the ' flatness' of the intake and breather pipes.

I found that when the fuel surges to the filler cap for the first time, grab the rear roof rail cap and shake the car from side to side once or twice.
This causes the air lock to release, hence allowing fuel to travel through the breather pipe which means the fuel will flow more freely till full.
Give it a go.
Tony
