Got myself a K&N airfilter and was just doing a bit of reading on it. I stumbled across the K&N thread and followed it all the way through to the ECU reset thread

Mark, I fitted a K&N air filter to a petrol version & saw no mention of ECU reset so left it to adjust itself in the fullness of time.

That 'time' seemed to be immediate as the ECU adjusted itself to the altered airflow as I left the carpark of Repco (I fitted it there).

That tankfull showed a better economy than its previous.

A reset of the ECU seems to be over-kill to me for that minor change. Now it has to re learn all of your previous driving pattern and your performance/economy will be sub-optimal while it does so.

The ECU does self adjust to altered environment. Otherwise, why have one?

That's exactly right, the ECU will adjust itself with the K&N filter, but if you don't want to wait 2-3 days the quick ECU re-set is the way to go and you won't notice anything after the re-set procedure.

Re: ECU reset on T31

But what if you don't have an ECCS fuse???? I fitted a new boost pressure sensor and wanted to reset the ecu. It's more than three days driving since fitted and I don't have the MIL light any more but I'm just curious......the ECCS fuse referred to in page two, mine is labeled EGI. Rating is the same and everything else is the same as in the pictures. What is EGI? Does this also do a reset?

On another note.....since around the time the boost sensor failed, the ambient temp reading on the dash reads 0deg. Is this just a coincidence?

Thanks folks,

Re:

Disconnect your battery overnight and you will achieve the same result and the ECU will re-set.

Re: ECU reset on T31

This One CLEARS the Mil light when you know you dont have a problem. I took plug off air intake to change air filter, forgot to refit and started engine. neck minnit-- more like 2 hours. The other fault code post does get you into fault code mode, i just couldn't get in to clear.
Thanks

JC,

Are you sure you following the correct procedure? The one in this thread is for the T31 model and your signature says you have a T30 emoticon

Re: ECU reset on T31

Hi all,

I'm going to have a go at an ECU reset (after cleaning the throttle body) and found this youtube video which claims will reset your ECU without removing fuses or disconnecting battery.

Hope this helps!
