Re: Watagans Trip April 2008
Guys,
Take a couple of kayaks with you just in case LOL (just kidding)
And Dave, you won't need your chainsaw anymore, any fallen trees will be floating away from you when you approach them

Re: Watagans Trip April 2008
Dave,
Reading your posts and the "exciting" things you keep mentioning about these tracks, I won't be surprised if newbies will get scared-off
I have been to the Watagans twice and camped during winter and it bucketed down on us on the weekend, but it was lots of fun (check the trip report), mud-sliding was part of that fun and no snakes were there at that time either. We did have a guy run with the Olympic torch all night between our tents LOL
Paul: Suggest you make one final post with all the details, as it can be lost between all these replies.

Re: Watagans Trip April 2008
Ok Guys,
Only one sleep to go before the trip, which looks to be excellent.
Mother Nature has been kind to us all week and we can expect plenty of mud and grime at the Watagons.
Thankfully the rain has not been too heavy so we can be confident that the tracks won't have suffered too much damage.
And, being that we will be there representing the forum we will not be doing any damage to the tracks or the forest while we are there.
If will be a fun day out for all and if anyone else wishes to pop along you are more than welcome.
We will meet up at 9am the at rest area at Ourimbah off the Sydney Newcastle Freeway.
Map below
At 9.30 we will head over to the servo, gas up and head out.
The planned route for the trip is:
Yarramalong, through to Cedar Brush Creek, Onley State Forest, up the Walkers Ridge Rd.
A quick duck down part of the Old Mill track (for those who want to see a few mongrel creek crossings), then out along Watagan Rd to Wollombi by about lunchtime.
After that, we can take some pics, have some lunch (and a Dr Jurds Jungle Juice for the non drivers) and then see if we want to tackle a causeway or two on the Yango Creek rd.
Should be a good mix of easy - moderate trails.
We will not be taking on anything too challenging and attendees need worry about being pushed beyond their comfort zone.
Looks to be a great trip and all attendess should take the time to read the
Forum Rules Regarding Events & Meet-ups
Confirmed Attendees for the trip are as follows:
PMcDermo (Paul)
Zipidee (Dave)
Alex70 (Alex)
Dingomouse (Chris & Emma)
I have sent each of you an e-mail PM with my mobile number in case you are running late
Anyone else who is considering attending please feel free to come along.
New and old members alike are more than welcome to attend what looks to be a great days driving.
See you all at Ourimbah and 9am
