Re: Black Thunda

Well, over the last 12 month I've hummed and hahhed over no less than a dozen possible choices.

Almost bought the Hummer but someone talked me out of it.

These cars I tried and all ended up too expensive for my budget, first choice was the Toyota HiLux crew cab, then the Toyota FJ and the BMW X5.

Looked at the Navara, Pathfinder, and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but they were too big for Vicky.

Looked at the Jeep Wrangler SWB but but no real creature comforts for an everyday car and wanted the wagon and so went for a drive in the Dodge Nitro but for the money it seemed like it was all plastic and was kinda too boxy.

Looked at the Mitsubishi Triton but no room in the back seats and looked at the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe but kept coming back for the Xtrail for it's superior off road ability and all the comforts for a truly all round family adventure vehicle.

I originally ordered a Diesel as it ended up being only $400 dearer on the initial quote but then I got a message that would have to wait until January for delivery and as I missed out on the pre new year sales, it would have ended up costing another $2500 so elected to go for the Petrol model.

I spent the day out and about and have almost 200km's on the clock after 2 days emoticon .

Re:

Am glad you didn't choose the Hummer, as it is the most over-stated car I have ever seen. My bro in law had one and it was like an over-sized plastic toy, bulky from the outside and no room on the inside.

I also test drive the Nitro, but it was heavy as a tank.

Haven't considered anything else but the exy in the Nissan brand, so the choice was easy for me.

How's the fuel consumption so far and what was it showing on the screen when you received the car?

Re: Black Thunda

Still trying to get the hang of understanding it but it read 12.5 and has a diamond at that mark, but as I'm driving it hovers around the 8.5 - 9.5 as I'm cruising but haven't been cruising much.

Putting the pedal down a bit and trying out the manual side of the gears a bit so over the 10 mark. emoticon

Have not noticed the CVT much cause I've had the music up and the roof open but seems like it has good pick up from lights.

Off to plow through the T31 threads.

Actually, I think it was your comments on the Hummer that made up my mind as I was having the same thoughts afetr I test drove it, plus the price for what you get. emoticon

I'm glad to have seen Rex all shiny & new, but have to ask ... when will you be taking him/her (?) out for it's inaugural "mud bath"?

Sorry mate, REX it is I'm afraid. Number plate starts with RX and Vicky said, it looks like REX and the name stuck.

Not going offroad till I get the bash plate fitted so just road running for the time being. Got to let him get settled in and get past the 1000k service.
