I'm not really all that worried about the money wasted, it's the fact that the actual design of this damper is not practical using the two mounting points in question. A much stronger mounting point (rather than the flexible firewall) would have been the suspension struts for example.

Have you actually had a look at what happens to your firewall when someone presses on the pedal going forward or reverse? The firewall getting pushed in, is not a big deal, but the firewall getting pulled-out is not a pretty sight emoticon
