T31 front hook and rear tie down points

Hi T31 owners,

I have noticed a strange looking square shaped opening in the front bumper of the T31 and some dealers had the exy without the blank cover and some had it covered, so I was wondering what it is used for and if the owners manual says anything about it?

Just curious I guess emoticon

I don't think so, it's not centered.

Is it a front recovery point?

Hi Bob,

I don't think it's a recovery point either as it gets covered by the nudge bar as seen below.

Re: What's this for?

hmmm, as it is covered by the nudge bar I wonder could it be a wiring access for OEM driving lights attached to the OEM nudge.

Could it be that they run the wiring through the nudge and into that hole?

A look at the rear of an OEM nudge might give it away

Might be an access cover for an aircon recharge point.
It looks like the aircon receiver and heat exchanger are right next to it behind the bumper.

Re: What's this for?

It is for the recovery hook or I would call tow hook. The hook is stored in the luggage side box as mentioned in the owners manual.

Re: What's this for?

Thanks Kim. What a weird place to have the recovery hook indeed, as it will interfere with the nudge bar when the car is being towed/recovered, or it looks that way from the pics.
