My new Xtrail

Hi Guys,
Thought I'll share some thoughts with you all on the internet about the car I just picked up.
T31 xtrail Ti with notably bluetooth and other options.

Firstly the car wasn't complete with the options because it is so new, the spoiler and scuff plates are not available in australia yet.

Anyways the Car is a hell lot bigger, I am not complaining but it sure does look alot bigger than the old.

It is roomy and the sunroof is worth the price for the car itself. The rear centre passenger seat is uncomfortable as it is hard and is essentially the armrest against your back. It is leather so it may be better if it is fabric on st models. Only suitable for small children or short trips. The dash is very nice and well design. The stereo we got sucks compare to the other stereos I see in the manual in other countries.

The car handles and feels very solid. It feels car like, not unlike a WRX.
I am not entirely satisfy with the car as I have found some issues,

Firstly the plastic side walls of the cargo area has a big gap between the two joining plastic sheets, it suppose to snap in together and no gaps but it doesn't so one side is perfect and the other is not aligned so there is a 7 mm gap between them.

Secondly the reverse sensor keeps playing up and beeps its head off for no reason when you engage reverse, intermittent at the moment.

Thirdly, No documentation on the bluetooth , the manual has bluetooth documented for the other type of head deck not the one we got. The buetooth is more like an adhoc option rather then an Nissan integrated option. For some reason i can't get the bluetooth to work.

Hope to get it sorted as the dealer is quite good to deal with so far.

Here some pics in low light.

RE your intermittent parking sensor problem:
Are you in a dusty area?
Is it windy where you are at the times when the sensor goes off?
Is it humid with a lot of insects flying around?

With my parking sensors (Bosch not Nissan) I sometimes find that dust, blossom blowing around, spiders webs, or flying ants/moths can be enough to trigger it off very intermittently.
As in "its beeping, not its stopped, no its beeping again" followed by me getting out of the car to discover that there are a few moths flying behind the car, or a huntsman spider has been busy trying to catch his lunch across the parking sensor hollow!

Just a thought.

There may be more about parking sensor problems in another thread.

Anita

Re: My new Xtrail

We test drove the new X-Trail and made an immediate decision that we wanted one. Everything we saw we liked and now have our baby safely tucked up in our garage. We settled on another ST because we couldn't see value in paying an extra $4000 for 17" wheels, leather steering wheel and stacker. Only problem we have noticed so far is the rear door is not centred. A small gap on the rear right and large gap on the left. It was noted before taking delivery and we are assured that it will be adjusted at first service. An annoying problem that I have (as I need the seat well forward) is that when you get into the drivers seat and reach for the seat belt, it gets hooked up on the armrest which necessitates opening the door again to clear it. Will experiment further with the seat adjustments to see if I can improve it. Certainly feels larger, expecially when parking in shopping centres. Yet to try the highway but will do so this weekend. If/when you take delivery of your new car, make sure you know how to open the fuel filler lid. Had an embarrassing moment when pulled into service station to fill up (three cars behind waiting) and couldn't open the lid. Reached for the lever but it wasn't there!!

We took our 2002 across Australia from East to West in 2005 (posted in trips) so will have to find another challenge for the T31.

Re: My new Xtrail

Congrats Les on your new purchase.

The fuel filler lid open with the remote control and locked when you lock the car too, so all you need to do is push the fuel lid open emoticon

Also, for those of us with the older model that upgrade to the new one, you need to get used to the fuel door being on the other side of the car emoticon
