Re: Big Tube Bar

Like! Do you find it handles better now with the added weight? Mine certainly does. It's lost that "all over the road", floaty feeling.

Yeah i would say the same, the front end seems to be more solid on the road when cornering and etc

Re:

Mants that looks awesome, I'm looking at some of the ECB bars for my Exy as well, thinking of going for the 63mm Nudge bar, the one which goes over the bonnet, just tossing up between chrome and hammertone (my vehicle is black)

Thanks Jack

Id say for a black xtrail id go for the chrome finish. I reckon the bar like mine would look good in chrome on your car

Re: INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING A GENUINE FACTORY NUDGE BAR T31

Hi All,

I can't seem to find instructions for fitting a GENUINE FACTORY NISSAN NUDGE BAR to a T31-L, 2007 (sept-dec) petrol.

Can anyone help?

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS / PART NUMBERS FOR FACTORY NUDGE BAR -T31 2007 - 2010

I now have fitting instructions for the genuine Alloy Nissan nudge bar for T31 Petrol (build dates 9/2007 to 7/2010 ).

NUDGE PART NO
Mine is F2160-JG100AU (verified). Requires some cutting of the front bumper.
It is SRS Airbag and ADR compliant (Australian Design Rule 69/00 — Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection 2006)

Alternative part: F2160-JG000AU same models but I would verify before purchasing.

PROS AND CONS
I think the GENUINE NISSAN nudge looks HEAPS better than aftermarket ones. That's no surprise since it was designed for the car. But its nowhere near as solid as an ECB or ARB. The bar is bolted on top of its plastic housing - it doesn't go all the way down to the chassis and isn't designed to withstand much impact - certainly not Roos.

You can still buy the factory bars on E-Bay for an ave 'Buy it Now' of $700 but some sellers are asking as much as $1400.00. You can get lucky if someone is selling one they bought for the wrong model - which is what I think I scored of Ebay the other day for $310 plus $25 post. It was fitted then removed - brand new shiny condition in original box - not a scratch. I'm guessing they trashed the brackets trying to fit it on because they included a newly boxed replacement kit (unopened in original sealed bags).

If anyone wants a copy of the install instructions message me - don't reply here. I have a copy scanned as a PDF.

PROBLEMS FITTING FACTORY NUDGE FOR X-Trail T31

THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT BUMPER AND THE CORRECT FITTING BRACKETS. REFER MY PREVIOUS POST FOR THE GENUINE BAR PART NUMBERS AND FITTING INSTRUCTIONS .

NOTE: I did not need to cut or remove the bumper. The install took me 2 hours WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED. The grill removes easily in seconds.

SOME THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

1. You have to fit a little support arm to each side of the nudge before you can attach it to the car. These support arms slip between the gap in your bumper. WRAP SOME LOOSE COVERING AROUND THESE SUPPORT ARMS OR THEY WILL MAKE A MESS OF YOUR BUMPER WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO FIT THE BAR.

2. AFTER you have fitted the bar, you need to make sure you back out the bolts on the saddle clamps (or clamping brackets) on the chassis so you can slide the bar left/right to centre it perfectly. The instructions say 'finger tight" to start but they need to be much looser. All other bolts needs to be finger tight. Don't try push-sliding the bar left or right- its better to reach down and jiggle the brackets. My car has had no front end impacts but I still couldn't slide the brackets far enough to the passenger side to centre the bar perfectly. The tow hook bolt pins the bracket to the chassis and pretty much limits the travel.

3. My bar fitted a 1/4" high on the drivers side and I just couldn't get it perfectly level - but of course only you will notice it. This is probably a deviation a tolerance issue in the chassis or the nudge brackets.

I'. pretty happy with the result - the stock factory nudge looks like it was designed for the car. Other members are saying its not as robust for protection from Roos and front impacts. BUT HEY - its illegal to fit any bar that doesn't collapse to a specified degree per the Australian Safety Standards. My point is that these bars have the same specified impact protection and the rest is cosmetic - so you might as well get the factory nudge designed by Nissan - it looks like it was designed for the car!!!
