Our good old 2003 xtrail has had the drivers side auto-up electric window playing up for a while now. I tried the usual fix as detailed in this thread and it helped the window a couple of times, but recently this fix has not been working. When using the auto-up, the window would go all the way up then down a few inches . Auto-down always worked OK, and using the window switch manually was OK.
I assume this has been happening because of a bit of wear and age.

The fix when all else fails:

1. Open the drivers door and remove the top half of the arm rest including switches, it can be done without tools usually.
2. Locate the small black reset switch behind the clear plastic sheet, no need to remove or puncture the plastic.
3. Turn on the ignition
4. WITHOUT using the auto-up feature, raise glass to the top dead center.
5. While pressing and holding reset switch, lower glass to the bot-
    tom dead center.
6. Release reset switch, and check that reset switch returns to the
original position. Then WITHOUT using the auto-up feature, raise glass to the top dead center.
7. Now test auto-down and auto-up feature

Fantastic! Wrote to this site with identical problem just over a year ago, repeatedly tried the '20-second fix', without success.
Yesterday, DETERMINED to fix this bug of window up on Auto, then half-way down again!
Searched this BRILLIANT forum, found and printed out above-mentioned fix, took just TEN MINUTES from start to finish, and Et Voila! Window closes normally!
(I took it too TWO Nissan dealers, both mentioned me needing a new motor as the 'bump' sensor' likely faulty!

I am one HAPPY CAMPER!!!!
Thanks Eggins Family, and the Forum!

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

Had you been using a stop watch, the 20 seconds method would have worked without a problem as everyone else did. It is a pretty precise procedure and much faster than dismantling panels to get to the re-set button.

But, at least you fixed your problem and that what counts emoticon

Hang, Jalalski, you are tough on me!

Obviously I used a stopwatch, actually an iPhone app (stopwatch); you don't seriously think I counted one-one thousand, two-one thouseand, thee-one thousand.... do you?!!

Adamant I did all exactly as per instruction, and adamant that it did not work; so happy that the 'longer/slower' way worked out.

It was literally 10 minutes, and nice to know how to dissasemble the switches.

Cheers! emoticon

Dunno mate, you must be the first then because this method is being used by everyone else with a T31 worldwide and it definitely works.

20 seconds is still longer than 10 minutes and if dismantling switches is your hobby, please do so LOL emoticon
