Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

Thanks for the fix Jalal

Like Andrew I had disconnected the battery to fit fog lights and although the auto down function worked afterwards the auto up didn't - I'm not really sure if the auto up function worked originally as I don't think I had tried it before fitting the lights ( and disconnecting the battery).

Thanks again.

Glenn
My auto up didn't work when i took delivery of my Exy.
In fact I wondered why the drivers window clicked twice and the others once.
The dealer fixed it in the 1000km service.
I was only just feeling my way around the forum then and didn't realise how easy it was to fix.

Thanks Tony

I'm guessing my auto up didn't work either - did your auto down function work ?
Strange that after disconnecting the battery the auto down worked just not the auto up function.

Either way I suppose it's not much of a problem since it's so easy to fix.

It didn't go down either.
I did pull a fuse afterwards and fixed the problem, but then after fitting fog lamps, it done it again ( after disconnecting battery).
I thought it was a fault and then I had Nissan look at it.

**Smacks forehead** Should have found this sooner emoticon emoticon

Been grumbling for 6 months about the auto-up not working. Kept telling Sonja, "The Camry does it, you think this one would!"

Well, I can report now it does... emoticon

Thanks Jalal emoticon emoticon

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

Our good old 2003 xtrail has had the drivers side auto-up electric window playing up for a while now. I tried the usual fix as detailed in this thread and it helped the window a couple of times, but recently this fix has not been working. When using the auto-up, the window would go all the way up then down a few inches . Auto-down always worked OK, and using the window switch manually was OK.
I assume this has been happening because of a bit of wear and age.

The fix when all else fails:

1. Open the drivers door and remove the top half of the arm rest including switches, it can be done without tools usually.
2. Locate the small black reset switch behind the clear plastic sheet, no need to remove or puncture the plastic.
3. Turn on the ignition
4. WITHOUT using the auto-up feature, raise glass to the top dead center.
5. While pressing and holding reset switch, lower glass to the bot-
    tom dead center.
6. Release reset switch, and check that reset switch returns to the
original position. Then WITHOUT using the auto-up feature, raise glass to the top dead center.
7. Now test auto-down and auto-up feature

Here are some pics:

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

I am now a Happy Auto Window Up person. The first attempt at the program had me worried. After competing the process, and tried the first test, the window went down wonderfully, but then would not go up at all, SH@#.
Umm turned off engine, pulled out key, then started car again, window went up half way and then auto straight down again. did the key removal, twice, and managed to get a second attempt at the 20 sec rule, window went half way down and stopped. @HI* neither up nor down.

Cycled through the key in out, window went down but not auto up, I and then had another go at the 20 sec rule, all good. Auto down and then auto up, and auto dow.... I think you get it.

The 1 hour trip home, cycled through the process of up-down about 6 times and all successful. will test again in the morning.
I was about to get the manual out and locate the fuse to reset.

Thanks for this helpful tip for a feature that possibly should be a standard user programmable option in the manual. But I do understand not giving it to the general public as the number of owners who would be at the dealers with the same hassles I did, and/or calling roadside assist services.

( I will be disabling the key in ignition/door open beep tomorrow. This is my biggest frustration with the car. My traded in Falcon would allow 1 hour radio play without key and door open - that was great)

Thank-you
