T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

Hi Guys,

I have been reading sources and I have come across this bug along with the solution for the new model exy.

Apparently, the driver's side AUTO window switch only operates to have the window go all the way down, it doesn't work if you want to close the window (as the older models)

If you come across this problem, the solution as follows:

* Start the car and open the window all the way down.

* Using the AUTO window switch close the window and keep holding the switch to its maximum opening position for 20 seconds - (accurate timing is important) after the window is closed. This will enable the operation of the opening and closing the window automatically thereafter.

Jalal, absolutely incredible what you find.

I would like to check there are 2 "click" positions for the switch in the UP direction before trying this as it might be an automatic test function in the chip which would override the normal operation.

Maybe you could check it out on the one you inspected at your dealer ?

No worries Kev, I will test this when I test-drive the auto exy, but I just posted this for those that may already put an order in for theirs, chances are they can test this sooner than me.

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

I wonder if doing that procedure again would re-program it back to factory settings (non-auto up)?

I would think not being able to have auto-up would be a safety feature - I wonder how many times people/children have had hands/arms/fingers caught in the window while it was auto-closing?

Rich,

Have you tried sticking a towel between the edge of the driver's window glass and the door frame while it's going up in auto mode? emoticon

If not, give it ago and see what happens emoticon

The safety feature is always there, but only for the driver's window, as all other windows don't auto close (no auto-up)

I've had my Xtrail for about 2 years now & I have only just found out, thanks to this forum, that there are 2 positions on the drivers side window switch.
I always wondered why sometimes it would go up or down a little bit at a time & other times it opens fully or closes on its own when I wanted to have it open just a little bit.

Thanks Fellas!!!! emoticon

Here you go Dave emoticon

Another feature which not many know about is a safety related feature for the driver's side window in auto-up mode if something is stuck between the edge of the window and the door frame when the auto-up button is pressed, the window senses the object as it hits it and automatically goes down.

Don't try testing this with your fingers though LOL emoticon

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

After mentioning this problem in the T31 thread, I was referred to the fix-it here. At first attempt , I held for what I guessed was 20 secs and found that I had all sorts of problems (erratic, wouldn't shut, wouldn't fully open - nothing at times). Started to panic! Got a stopwatch and timed it to exactly 20secs using the correct procedure and all works perfectly now. Hint - make sure it is exactly 20secs!

Re: T31 X-Trail Auto window-up Bug

20 Seconds does the trick, I started the window wind up on the minute, it took 3 seconds to fully close, at 23 seconds I released the window button and gave it a flick on the auto down, worked as it should, gave it a flick on auto up, and w00t (2007 word of the year!!) it auto-upped as it should.

Thanks again Jalalski
