The first Euro sheet you just posted says engine oil changes and filters every 30,000kms, air filter 60,000km and so on, you can service the red bull to these schedules, I sure the hell aint servicing my car that way.

Well, it's not MY service schedule and it is NOT MY advice. The information is presented to you and taken from an authorized copy of a Nissan manual, so it is upto you to make your own interpretations about it.

quote:

As Australia is considered extreme driving conditions our service schedule is different.

So far in this discussion you haven't provided any facts that proves that the difference.

quote:

Secondly how did you translate a 75000km/80,000km service for radiator fluid, by assumption? I will change my fluids as per manufacturers recommendations as different quality radiator fluids are available to suit different climates and driving conditions.

Based it on the fact that both th T30 and T31 share exactly the same engine and require exactly the same amount of engine coolant, so maybe you can tell me what does your glovebox schedule says regarding when the coolant must be changed? The T31 X-Trail CVT service schedules I have come across on the internet ALL confirm engine coolant replacement at the 80,000kms service as seen below:

Image

And HERE a link to another Nissan service schedule for the T31 CVT confirming the same. If as you say, Australia is listed as part of the extreme weather condition countries, surely they coolant change is better done sooner rather than later. Again, please advise what does your owners manual state in this regard?

quote:

Thirdly the DIY guides in this forum can provide me with that info from error codes.

Oh, so you don't mind referring to "Googled information" in this instance? And then what? you know what the code is, what your mechanic will be able to do about it without the diagnostic tool other than suggest to you to take to a Nissan dealer (or a mechanic with the needed tools) to trouble-shoot further?

quote:

Lastly I am not giving advise to anyone about when to service their car as I am not a Licensed mechanic

I am giving advice as to WHERE to service your car based on the maintenance schedule and highlighting the importance of MAJOR service intervals which are best be done at dealerships or at a workshop that has access to the latest Nissan software and diagnostic equipment.

quote:

I am guided by Nissan Australias service manual,

Nothing wrong with that at all, as long as the major service items are fully maintained as per the Nissan service manual and schedule without any short-cuts. It's not all about having a mechanic stamp the service book.

Re:

your new sevice schedule is an overseas all model version as well. Tony states on the previous page of this thread OUR book in OUR glovebox of OUR cars provided by Nissan Australia for the Xtrail we own in Australia. My service was done by a mechanic who is licensed by the motor trader association of australia who followed Nissan Australias guidelines on how to service the car.

Until you show me a document published by nissan austalia especially for the t31 in oz I dont beleived you have proved anything to me our any other person. Those documents you have provided have astrixes etc about severe conditions in russia prbly from the cold so your documents prove this exists.

Re:

How about you go and check your glovebox and let me know what does your service book says as to when the engine coolant needs to be replaced 80K, 90K or never? Is it that hard to have a look and type it in here and take snap-shot of it?

I'm not trying to prove anything to you. It's your car and your totally free to do with it whatever you like.

P.S. I have requested Nissan Australia to provide me with an official T31 x-trail service schedule, so let's see if they have one available.

That's correct, the first coolant change happens at 40K, then 80K and 120K service intervals.

In my service manual it only tells you to check & correct coolant levels not actually to replace at 40k. My first one will be at 80k. emoticon

Re:

Sorry Pete, you're right and it is exactly the same with the T30 service schedule, check coolant level at 40K service and replace at 80K and then every 40K after that.

Re:

I stand corrested.
Just looked in the service manual and there it was 3rd line down, replace engine coolant.
What I didn't notice is that there are 2 80k pages both with different things written on them.
One heading written in a pale gey and the other in black.
Sorry for the confusion.
