Re: FLARING AT IDLE 1700-2500 RPM.

Hi Munners,

When you did the idle relearn you should have noticed a period during the relearn where the engine almost stalled before picking up again.
Did this happen ?
If not then the relearn did not occur.

Re: FLARING AT IDLE 1700-2500 RPM.

Thanks for your replies Kev.

I don't recall that the revs dropped off initially. I probably would have remembered if they had.

I'll give it another go just to be sure.

Re:

I have the same problem with revs jumping at idle between 1500-2100rpm.
Also if drivin the car it seems normal when i'm in gear (i own manual 2004 T30 series 2 ST-X)
I tried disconnected the throttle body plug and it wasn't jumping revs at idle but after plugin it back in the car was jumping revs again. This is why i think its the Throttle control.
Also noticed the car when cold starts normally until the engine warms up where it starts to jump revs like explained before.

Nissan dealer out west in sydney wants $110 for a full diagnosis. This can't be right and i refused.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Re:

Hi Vas,

You need to do the idle re-set, you can either take to a dealer to do (will cost $10 if you specifically ask them to do this) or you can do the idle re-set yourself (check the DIY Guides section of the forum)

Re:

Call Rockdale Nissan. Don't say you want the diagnostics done. Just say you want to have the idle re-set.

It's a 10 minute job using Consult II and they can do while you wait.

Re:

I ended up going to an auto electrician who didn't charge me a cent to diagnose the car. Found throttle control body is faulty and resets won't work.
I got the throttle control body from wreckers for $160.
Thinking about putting it in myself since it's like 4 allen key bolts holding it.

Will i have to do the reset procedures after i install it (idle re-learn processes)?

Re:

You can re-set the ECU after you've calibrated the idle. Just in case.
