Be very careful with the Nissan radiator coolant.
During my last visit to the dealer for the 80K service where they flushed the coolant and put in a new one, I was told they received many cases of blocked radiators because the wrong coolant was used, this in some cases led to blockages and blown head gaskets if not detected.
I am not sure what type of coolant your mechanic has used but it better be within the exact specifications as the Nissan coolant.

Yes, dealers are very fussy when it comes to coolants.
My experience many years ago was with Mitsubishi where I also was going to the snow and worried about freezing.
My enquiries revealed that if anything happened with the alloy block (such a hole) then if the coolant mix was not within specs when they tested it then you would not be covered by any warranty or manufacturers guarantee.

Jalal, I'm surprised they said that. From what we've read, it seems more likely to be casting sand in the radiator that causes the problems 
If sextrail is saying that his mechanic did a test on the coolant at 10,000km, and it indicated a low concentration level, wouldn't that mean that the Nissan product was wrong? Can anyone confirm the Nissan coolant is supposed to be only 3%? I thought all alloy engines used the same concentration of coolant?
If it's meant to be 50/50, then the 3% at 10,000km is a bit of a worry if it's not meant to be changed until 80,000km as stated in the service log book/maintenance schedule!

Yes Rich and they don't deny that. However the majority of the cases they received wasn't blockage caused by casting sand, it was blockages caused by either using an incorrect coolant type or even worse, mixing coolants.
I can't make judgements of what sextrail's mechanic has done and how he determined that percentage, so am not going to comment on that, except to say that I haven't heard that before and he needs to make sure that the coolant used was exactly the same spec as the nissan one.
Maybe one of our on-board mechanics can shed some light about this gadget that was used.

Hi Guys,
Seeing that some of our members experiencing blown head gaskets and overheating, it is very important to follow the Nissan guidelines when it comes to choosing the right engine coolant and following the right engine coolant mixture ratios when a full radiator flush is performed.

Anthony,
What brand coolant did you use and how did you flush the system? It could a residue from the old coolant after the flush was done.
Clean the area under the radiator cap and see if it happens again.

I think it has something to do with the way you flushed the system mate and the old coolant residue is now surfacing up now that it mixed with the new coolant.
